We purchased Saige on her day of release, January 1, 2013, from the St. Louis store. Saige is a sweet doll, but honestly not one of my favorites as she has the flavor of several other dolls. Saige's hair is set in a twist ponytail; which appears to have been produced by parting the hair down the center, twisting both sections to the ends, then twisting both sides together. The color is a very slight reddish-brown. I have not taken the hair out of the braid, but the hair is about waist long and set in soft curls. The Saige wig has short-cut hairs under the first layer of longer hair. I originally thought this was a defect in the wig, but according to the board this is normal and also seen in the Caroline wig. Saige's eyes are a pretty bright shade of blue called 'turquoise' by AG- a new shade; slightly lighter than Kit's, but darker than the all other current AG shades. Saige has dark brown freckles and feathered eyebrows. Saige's meet outfit is a purple knit knee-length dress with a double tier and a multi-colored southwestern thread embroidered belt. Be very careful removing the dress- the velcro will stick in her hair. The boots are brown with wrapped straps and a single silver buckle; velcro closure. Saige wears light-blue undies. Saige comes with a 'turquoise' ring. The ring is plastic, and the closure seems to stretch slightly to hold on the finger. The ring sort of 'clicks' into place. My doll's ring does not fall off easily. I fear if the plastic band was stretched much, it would break. Saige also comes with pierced ears and small silver flower earrings. Overall: B+

I was much more excited about this doll until I actually had her. Her eye color is unique, but not enough to get me excited. Her hair is red, but again, not enough to get me excited. I disagree that her wig is the same as Caroline's, mine is not NEARLY as curly, and the photos you see were my absolute best to make it look curly. Caroline next to her in the photo has ringlets with no effort. My biggest problem with Saige is that I had to go through probably 30+ dolls to find one who had non-wonky eyes. I consider myself only moderately picky, but I don't know what it was about the batch I saw. 75% of them had the doll's left eye (my right) smaller and angled down towards her nose. Another 20% had that same eye way too large, giving the dolls and o.O expression. I've never seen it this bad in a classic mold. If you're picky, I'd suggest picking this doll out in person. And since photos speak louder than words: imgur.com/a/ySx1N#0Images have not been resized, you can enlarge them by clicking the icon in the upper right portion of the photo.

I went to get my Saige yesterday afternoon...it was busy but not as bad as the first day (poor clerks looked frazzled). There were 'no' free t-shirts left *sigh*. I did pick out a gloriously beautiful Saige that stole my heart, her eyes are stunning and her hair is fantastic (even easy for me to handle) and her clothes are a 'must have'...I rate Saige as a A+ "definitely"!!! Then I chose an adorable Sam (her border collie) both myself and a women beside me "awed" when I opened the box to see that adorable face of his, got her PJ's (love those colors, going to look cute on her for sure), chose her Parade Outfit and her accessories for now, that took up my AG GC from Christmas. I want the entire collection 'woo' it is so awesome!!! So, here is my Saige (will be renaming her, but neither DH or I can come up with the perfect name 'yet' and so far she isn't talking *hee hee*)................... I'm so happy I was able to make the trip to the store to see all the awesome items in her collection and doubly thankful to have my Saige to hug and love.

My daughter and I each got a Saige the day of her debut. I'll be going back and editing this post as my ability to get better photos improves and as I get the time and optimal lighting. I'll be providing comparisons to Caroline and other classic face mold dolls I own. For now, for potential buyers just two caveats: newbies please look at the faces of the dolls because not all dolls are identical. You would be surprised to know even within the same character there are variations to give them unique personalities. My Saige looks more quiet and demure and my daughter's Saige looks more outgoing and adventurous. Of course every individual interpretation will vary. I did not notice any duds among the stock at DC while I was there, but another member reported seeing wonky mismatched eyes with one socket being noticeably larger and/or higher than the other among the stock at their nearby store. A couple of us have noticed Saige's with a wig defect in which the short hairs that should be in the wig are sticking up in an unsightly tuft for some reason. It is not good etiquette to remove the hairnet to check before you've bought the doll, but if you stay near the premises after you've made your purchase, check the doll thoroughly and take her back in for an exchange if you find this defect. I spotted the defect while the doll was still boxed. Saige's wig seems to vary from very thick and thickly curled to somewhat thin and lightly wavy, which is the way mine is. It is a really nice wig for 8 year old kids and above as it offers many styling options and stands up to gentle brushing very well. I give it a solid A so far. Okay back with a poorly lit photo showing what I mean about variations between wig thicknesses. The doll on the left is mine and the doll on the right belongs to my daughter. Upon close examination it appears an unnecessary amount of my doll's wig hairs were clipped short. Tsk tsk: Color is a beautiful dark auburn that is a couple of shades darker than Emily's but in the same color tone. I hope I've got my color terminology correct there. UPDATE: even in my poorly kit photo some of you may be able to discern a slight color difference. It is not your imagination and it is not a trick of the light. My Saige has a more blonde or golden hue and my daughter's Saige has a more rich, true red. So, just be aware that these differences/variances do exist between Saiges. I'll be back again at a later time to offer up more comparisons between our two dolls. I'm back with another photo to illustrate the variety in Saige dolls. The one on the left is my sweet shy looking Emily Rose and the one on the right is the feisty and outgoing Saige Felicity belonging to my daughter For those wondering how she stacks up against last years GOTY, McKenna: And some may feel Caroline renders her redundant or vice versa. For me, Saige is more of a sister, not a rival and both share the spotlight equally well. Saige is good for those who are drawn to Caroline but are wanting hair that doesn't require the finger curling to maintain the hairstyle. The ears are pierced and this is a great value for those who wanted this feature on a doll. For me it was one of the deciding factors in choosing Saige over Emily because I have always wanted a doll with pierced ears but the time and expense and long lines at the salon have kept me postponing getting my existing dolls' ears pierced. Her ears have the standard sized AG holes and can take all AG branded earrings currently sold. Her face is very similar to Kit's. And it's painted in bold hues similar to how 55's is painted. The similarities between 55 and Saige are very strong. Overall I give the doll herself an A+. She has a certain charisma and drawing power about her. I was not interested at all in getting her, I was there for my daughter and to get Emily for myself. In looking through the stock to help my daughter finalize her selection I came across my Saige. She was not perfect in wig or features. I usually look for straight parts, facial symmetry and other signs of "perfection" and my Emily Rose Copeland doesn't have any of that. Her part is crooked, her eyeballs move around a bit and she tends to gaze to one side or go lazy eyes. None of that mattered. The lines "Then I saw her face, now I'm a believer, I couldn't leave her if I tried" went off in my head. The near perfect Emily I'd so painstakingly selected went back up on the shelf once and for all. Sorry this is rapidly devolving from a proper review into a squee. I'll be back with pictures of both Saige dolls in our family next chance I get.

Everyone gave really great reviews, and after my inspection of my Saige doll, I totally give her an "A". When she was first released on the AG Facebook paige I immediately thought she was way too similar to Nicki DOTY. However, after getting her, she really does have her own look. Her hair is a much deeper and brighter red, and her eyes more blue. Someone mentioned her undies in the Saige Discussion, that they perfectly matched her blue eyes, and really made them pop! The undies are plain, no designs. So I will post pics of them here. :-) I posted pics in both natural light and with a flash:

I love her hair! My daughter's has more wavy than curly hair although it can be finger curled. It is super easy to brush and very silky. She has very beautiful turquoise eyes. I am pleased to see the belt on the meet dress is embroidered and wraps all the way around and the ring seems to fit on which ever finger my daughter chooses without slipping.

I have an older camera and I'm not great at close ups but here is a picture that will give you an idea of the color hair of #17 and Saige's. I think they are 'very' close in color, maybe a slight difference with my Sarah Amelia Saige's hair having more red to it. This picture was taken with out flash.......... Hope this helps...love to hear or see what others think.

Just wanted to add that I don't have any issues with her ring sliding on or off either. It's really snug. Especially if you put it on the ring finger of her left hand (it won't fit on my Saige's right-hand ring finger!)
ETA: Oh, and a spam photo of Saige and Sam getting a treat at the Bistro. (Upon seeing that we'd set Sam on the table next to Saige, the waiter brought over a metal dish full of water and said "a bit of water for your puppy" and sat the bowl in front of Sam!)

My Saige is a real delight. She arrived to Massachusetts just ahead of a snow storm and had to be dressed appropriately. I particularly love her coloring which is warm and lively. She looks fantastic in pink.

I bought just Saige's ring from a fellow board member and beacuse I asked her to mail it in an envelope, it arrived bent and with the stone popped out. Fortunately I was able to coax the plastic back into shape without it snapping, and I just glued the "stone" back in, so it will work fine for me. But I wanted to mention that it CAN be a little delicate so to watch out for that. Anyway, I like the ring's simplicity and I'm using it as a southwestern ring for Josefina's collection, a turquoise ring for my Regency girls (like Jane Austen's www.thehistoryblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/Jane-Austen-ring.jpg ), and a mood ring for my 90s girl Amanda. It also fits on both Mattel and PM dolls!

I had a lot of goth friends in high school. While I was going through my doll clothes I tried to think about what they wore in high school. Granted most of my goth friends were boys.... I also tried to think about what Abby from NCIS would wear. AGPC black tee, AGP jeans, AGOT black high tops Saige goth 3 by Elizabeth, on Flickr These were the darkest blue jeans that I have. I don't have any black jeans. AGPC black tee, AGOT black pants, AGOT black high tops Saige goth 4 by Elizabeth, on Flickr Black hoodie, AGP jeans, AGOT black high tops Saige goth 2 by Elizabeth, on Flickr AGPC black tee, JLY army green shorts, AGOT hiking boots Saige goth 5 by Elizabeth, on Flickr I remember my goth friends wearing a lot of army green/military style clothes. But they also almost never wore shorts. But in my doll clothes I only have shorts, no army green long pants. Black shirt, plaid skirt, MyAG black fashion boots Saige goth 6 by Elizabeth, on Flickr The skull is an iron on patch that I temporarily taped onto a black shirt. That's why it may look a bit odd. Jean jacket, black tank top, plaid skirt, MyAG black fashion boots Saige goth 1 by Elizabeth, on Flickr I think Saige would make a cute Goth. SailorMolly

I recently bought my Saige at the Seattle store, and she is just adorable.
The Doll: Saige is overall a really beautiful doll. She reminds me if Nicki, but Saige has more vibrant coloring. Her eyes are a beautiful, deep shade of blue. They are lighter than Kit's but darker than #23's and Emily's. She has some freckles, which I love on any doll. She has the feathered eyebrows, which I prefer over the line ones. When you take her hair out of her twist braid, her hair falls into soft curls. I either brush them into loose waves or make small ringlets, and I like how they look either way. My dolls wig is nice and thick. I love how she comes with pierced ears. I think the earrings are cute too. They have a small cactus flower design on them.
The Meet: I love Saiges dress- I love the indigo color. The boots are very versatile.
Overall grade: A+

I got Saige during free shipping. I mainly got her for her meet outfit, but I love red haired dolls so I thought I would give her a chance. I seem to have gotten a doll with excessive short hairs, but I am not sure if brushing would help-she still has her meet style in. Her hair is also not as red as I expected-it is more of an auburn highlight than just auburn (at least mine, there does appear to be a bit of variety looking at pictures). Saige has lovely eyes. I felt they were too similar to the other blues to justify a new color until I saw the in person. Saige has very vibrant turquoise eyes, you can clearly see the difference from the other blues in person. Saige 1Saige's meet outfit is very short, and a bit snug. I was afraid it would be too small on my Josefina, but it does stretch to fit. I had a little trouble getting her boots off the first time, but they aren't too difficult for an adult to get on/off after that initial stretch to get them off. The panties are a lovely color, but are just panties. They would possibly show through lighter colored outfits, but so far I just used them with Saige's meet dress. DSCN0020[1] Saige's meet jewelry is a nice touch. I don't really care about ear rings, but Saige's are different and cute. I also hadn't seen AG piercings (other than Josefina's fixed) in real life, and they were much better than I expected. The flowers are nice, and I think the ear rings are a nice touch for a GOTY. Saige's ring is pretty awesome. I love turquoise, and I think the ring looks nice for a tiny plastic toy. I found the ring to fit well, but I would be worried to carry a doll around with it on. I have the ring on Josefina's left ring finger, and it looks realistic. The ring is great for a careful adult/collector, but I would keep it out of reach of a child until I was sure she could keep track of it; even the $6 replacement from AG seems a bit inflated, but better than ebay. DSCN0022[1] Grade: Doll A- Dress B+ (too tight/short) Boots/jewelry A/A+

My Saige was purchased direct from the Chicago store by my colleague.
Doll I really am liking the doll a lot, or perhaps I am biased because I am really liking Saige's book character. I have gone through a couple of redhead dolls (childhood Felicity, a Mia that did not last long), and I really prefer Saige's hair color out of the three. It seems like a nice rich red, not the more orangy-red that some other AG dolls have. My Saige's wig seems very soft, though maybe thin, and the part is slightly off center to the right. I am still playing around the with the wig, but am glad that it is not as curly as Caroline's wig is. It just brings down my stress level a bit knowing that it will not be super high maintenance. The length is perfect for all sorts of styles.
Saige is only the third doll I bought with freckles, but she is the first I like them on. Mia just was not a keeper overall, and I just do not like Kit either, as much as I try, but Saige's freckles give her character. I think in some way, the combo of her dark red hair with the freckles reminds me of Anne Shirley or some girl traveling the Oregon Trail, so I find Saige endearing. her face paint is also lovely, as she has the right amount of lip color to balance the bright hue of her hair and eyes.
I like Saige's eye color as well. It works well with her hair color, though I am not sure how common the color is in real life.
Grade: A (slight ding for the wig)
Outfit
Saige's outfit consists of the dress, earrings, boots, underwear and ring. I personally feel the dress is a bit lacking, as it seems short, and not really anything special - made of a solid color thin jersey stretch material with a embroidered belt. I suppose this was a way AG could keep costs even, since Saige's ears come pierced, which normally costs $14.
The underwear is your standard underwear.
The boots are cute, but I wish they were a bit more slouchy like the book illustration. I am not sure how much I will use them, but they have plenty of mix and match potential.
The earrings are a cute star like shape. I think this is where I will truly have the most fun, since this is my first doll with pierced ears. The ring is also cute, but I have yet to try it out, as it was late last night before I had a chance to unpack Saige.
Grade: B+ (dings for the dress)
Book
I am about halfway through, and like the book a lot so far. Saige seems really sweet, as I can relate to her need to carry around art supplies and losing track of time when painting. I have not read all of the GOTY books, but it seems to be lacking in illustrations. Within the book there are only two full page illustrations and one double page illustration. The illustrations are gorgeous, and you can definitely see an improvement in Sarah Davis's art when compared to the illustrations in Kanani's books.
Grade: A
Overall, I give the doll an A-. I personally like her due to her love for art, and plan on keeping her mostly as herself, the first time I am doing that with a GOTY doll. For my collection, she is unique, and definitely different enough from Caroline. She is unique enough from other dolls currently available to warrant purchase, but her hair could get tangled especially with younger children. Her pierced ears are definitely a bonus.
I had Nicki for a bit as well, and definitely prefer Saige over Nicki. Saige's overall colors are more vibrant, and if you missed Nicki, Saige makes a great alternative.

I bought Saige to be my Caroline replacement (first time I've taken a doll out of her character). She is everything I'd hoped for in the Caroline doll. I love her hair. There was so much of it when I got it out of the braid. It is easy to manage and I love the color. She is my first doll with freckles and I love them. They certainly add to her personality and charm. She hasn't been in her dress since I bought her but Lanie is wearing it. I love the dress and the boots. The only thing I don't like about the dress is that there is always a bump where it hits the underwear. Looks great on Lanie. Her pierced ears were a plus for me. She is my 3rd doll with AG pierced ears. Now I just need more earrings. Since her cactus flower earrings aren't from 1812, she is wearing a different set, but that is okay since Lanie also inherited them. I have read both her books and while it made me love her, I'm not going to change her back into Saige. My DD is getting Saige and her doll will remain the book canon doll. I'll give Saige an A for the underwear line problem.

I bought Saige earlier this week while on vacation at the Mall of America. I had to look through a lot of dolls to find one that didn't have wonky eyes. The dolls' left eyes were noticably (to me) higher than the their right eyes. I have noticed this a lot with the classic mold, I had a #23 with this issue who I ended up giving away. I'm glad I had the chance to choose my Saige in person. I was mostly looking for one with level eyes and this was the only one in the section of the store I was searching that looked nice to me. I didn't want to scour the entire store and this one grabbed me. I think she was the first one that popped out at me and she kept coming out on top. I think some of the others might have had level or nearly level eyes, but the head tilt can exaggerate a slightly high eye into one that looks terrible. Her wig is fantastic, she's going to give Marie-Grace a run for her money as having the best wig in the house. She has a nice even layer of short hairs, her curls are smooth and soft. She doesn't have the fried curls that my Sonali had. I got lucky with her wig, I don't take the hair net off before purchasing so I only felt her scalp through it make sure she didn't have any lumps like my #23 had. Ever since I gave away my #23 I had been missing her and Saige is like a way better version of the doll I wanted #23 to be. I love her eye color too. Like another reviewer posted she is what I wanted in Caroline, I'd like to get her some of Caroline's outfits.

Hi guys, so I will probably edit this post with some pictures of my Saige. I got her yesterday in the mail and absolutely adore her. She is my first doll in eight years and have very little complaints about her. She has the most gorgeous reddish brown hair and I was apprehensive about her at first because her hair seemed so similar to my Felicity's but once I received Saige, her hair even though similar in color, stands apart from Felicity.
Her curls: I will say that I would not recommend this for a first doll unless this would be the first AG doll and you've had dolls previously with curly hair and know how to take care of them. I unfortunately did not know how to take care of my poor baby Samantha's curls and have since been trying to fix what I messed up in childhood.
Saige's hair does come in a rope braid that I will warn can easily be messed up by the hairnet when you first get her. Mine was and I managed to redo it thankfully. Once it's out you can separate her curls by finger combing her hair which I recommend doing if you don't have the hair pick. If her curls get a little too messy for your taste I would suggest finger curling them, which is fairly easy to do with her hair.
Saige comes in a beautiful indigo dress with an embroidered belt. She also comes in blue underwear and boots. In her box there is also a ring and if you face the opening towards her thumb it should stay on very nicely. Saige's eyes are just gorgeous, they just shine when you look at her like she's got some sort of mischievous plans up her sleeve. Her freckles are precious, the way my Saige's freckles were pattered, a few even ended up lower on her nose but that's okay! I think she's gorgeous. Overall Saige is a gorgeous doll and I just forewarn about her hair. Also, ps, her boots can be a bear to get on and off! I give Saige an A.

I got my Saige (renamed to Harmony Jade) back in February. She is about to be exchanged (I discovered a problem with her wig glue), but I didn't think it would effect my review. Besides my doll's defects, I really love her wig! At first, I was wary about her center part, but it's grown on me, and I think I prefer her with it! I still wish AG would come out with a true red wig, but Saige's auburn is still a beautiful shade. I compared her to my Felicity, and their shades seemed slightly different. I thought Felicity's looked like it had a little more brown in it. One thing I thought was interesting about Saige's hair was that when I brushed it out, it seemed like the hair was almost layered! She had a lot of shorter strands mixed in with longer ones. Saige's eye color is also gorgeous! It was a bit lighter and richer than my Kit's, but I have heard that some Saiges have different shade eyes, so mine might be different than most. I am also very happy that AG gave her freckles. I have them, and I feel like there are not enough dolls to represent how many girls have them. Saige does seem like a "darker" version of Nicki, but that is just fine with me, as I missed out on Nicki, and Harmony is my Nicki replacement. I just wish AG hadn't regurgitated all of the horse things. I like Saige's meet outfit just fine, but IMO, it doesn't flatter her at all! I tried it on my #40 and much preferred it with her dark hair! I am just glad that AG decided to used such a pretty shade of blue. It seems similar to something a girl that age might want to wear, although I wish the skirt was a little longer (my girls wear tights underneath). Saige's boots are really cute, and I really like them with her sweater outfit. I've seen many teens wearing similar ones, so I feel like they are a little old for Saige. Her underwear is really just blue underwear. All I can say is that it reminds me of Mia's underwear. Saige's ring is one piece I don't care for. It seems like it would either get swallowed or vacuumed up. Mine has just stayed in box with my other AG jewelry. At least it matches her eyes. I'm 50/50 on her pierced ears. It does save money for those who like them, and I have been able to use some of my AG earrings! But at the same time, I wish they weren't pierced because I'm not a fan of the giant holes. The little leaf earrings are cute, though. Overall, I'd have to give Saige an A-. She is a very pretty doll, but she isn't the most unique, and I think AG could have improved a few things with her outfit and accessories. A few pictures:

I just received Saige in the mail today. She is a beautiful doll. Her long, curly auburn hair is lovely! Her hair comes twisted into a side braid, but looks lovely down. Her freckles are adorable and her turquoise eyes are pretty. Her meet dress is a lovely indigo with a southwestern patterned belt embroidered on it. Her brown boots go up to her knees and have a silver buckle on the side. She also comes with a turquoise ring. Overall, I give Saige an A+. I love her!

I picked out Saige the end of last month from AGPLA. I've been eyeing her all year and finally decided I wanted her in my collection, since I was lacking a doll with the classic face. As mentioned in an earlier review, many of the dolls had uneven eyes and I had to go through several to find one which did not look like she was squinting in one eye. I also had issues with the placement of the eyebrows on many of the dolls, most were clear on the doll's forehead and gave a shocked/bewildered/startled expression. I stumbled upon this gal and knew she was the one.
Taking out the rope braid, the hair is a nice length but is a bit frizzy and dry on the ends. I thought it was odd that she came with a "Care for Your Doll with STRAIGHT hair" hang tag when she clearly has wavy locks. Also interesting to note is how the hang tag is now printed in English and French, possibly in a move for our Québécois friends.
The meet dress is a little plain but looks great when jazzed up with her meet accessories. Her generic blue underwear is not printed with her logo like past GOTY, which I find disappointing. Her logo is subtlety used on her earrings. At the store the display dolls had the ring over her index finger and it slid off quite easily but when placed on the ring finger as pictured in the catalog, it holds in place well.
Saige looks surprisingly mature when placed next to my other dolls and I am surprised I like her more than I thought I would.

I chose not to get Saige, but I wanted the meet outfit. It did not disappoint. This is probably my favorite of all of the GOTY outfits. The style and color of the dress, the wonderful detailing and color of the boots as well as the style give it a big A+ from me.
