Julie took me by complete surprise! I recently obtained her used from a board member with the intention of creating a boy custom but when she arrived she was so groovy that I had to think twice about her "operation". Love the face mold/hair/eye combo and the meet outfit has high mix & match potential. The embroidered top is a bit transparent but it could be used as sleepwear. Julie gets a solid A.

Julie is a great doll! I got her at AGPDC this summer. Lets start with her eyes! She has beautiful brown eyes that look divine with her blond hair. Her hair has such a beautiful shine to it and is the perfect length but can be very hard to style at times. My biggest complain about Julie is that her hair sheads so much! Whenever I brush it some hair falls out. I am afraid to brush it to much. In other reviews people have not had this problem. I have only noticed this in the newer dolls. My good friend also has an older julie and the texture is a lot different. Overall she is a great doll dispite the hair problem.

My Julie arrived about a week ago. I had wanted Julie for a while but some how other dolls kept cutting in line in front of her. Since I grew up in the 70s I finally added her to my collection. She really is a gorgeous doll. Her hair is so silky and I love her big, brown eyes. Her meet outfit really reflects fashion as I remember it in the 70s. In fact I had a gauze shirt similar to the one she's wearing when I was growing up.

I never really did take much notice in the Julie and Ivy collection when I was younger because I thought she just looked like every other doll. Now I know how wrong I was. She is so gorgeous! Shes very photogenic and she just looks fabulous in anything I put on her! I especially like her in the Sweet Peach Glasses and pastel colors! Her hair is long and silky, though she is my second doll and the first doll I had with long hair, so Abby's hair is a little bit frizzy at the ends, but I am working on fixing it xD. The braid was a problem at first. I didn't keep it in for more than an hour after getting her. It was very bothersome and for my doll, the braid was practically hanging in the middle of her face! Taking it out it became wavy (like i expected) and it looked very awkward next to her long, silky straight hair. Eventually it started to fade, but to top it off, I did end up straightening her hair. Her eyes are dark brown and they are in the pinwheel form. I love the combination of blonde hair and brown eyes, so i was very happy when I saw her stunning brown eyes. The outfit is really well made! The blouse is adorable and I love it so much, the braided belt is very cute and really makes the top look even more fantastic. The pants I was iffy about, but I get that AG was trying to give her a 70's look the shoes are so cute and I still use them! The book is very inspiring and extremely well written! I love her relationship with Ivy and I can relate to moving away and missing your old friends, but also making new ones the doll herself earned an A+! The meet outfit just got an A. Her book got an A+! Overall, I give her an A- because of some hair issues I've had. I recommend her to anyone from the ages 9+, not very good for younger collectors because of her extremely long hair

Julie was the first doll my mother bought me…for my 46th birthday! She will always be special to me. She is my JLY doll. I love her silky straight hair. It is so easy to take care of. Since I like her hair straight I really don't try to do anything with it except braid it in different ways. She looks "older" to me than all of our other dolls. So, she is always the oldest of all the girls.
I was a child of the 70's (8 in 76) so I really like the bell bottoms and the flower jumper - squeel! I don't care for her Meet outfit at all and wouldn't have worn what she has on other than the fact she has bell bottoms and the purple crochet hat. It has mix match possibilities but I just don't care for her two-tone pants. Bleh.
I love her face mold. It is my favorite. I am so glad my mother bought her for me because I would have never bought Julie on my own. I am more attached to DOC and more of an 1800's historical vibe. But, Julie has added lots of modern fun to our group of girls.
Overall she is an A+. She is made well, I love her eyes, her face mold, her hair….sigh.
Julie is super groovy fun. I recommend her.

Julie was a doll I had a hard time deciding if I wanted her or not. However, with all the pending BeForever changes, and realizing I would rather just focus on the Historical collection (or BeForever, I should start calling it), I decided to get Julie before the meet outfits will be changed. However, I have had often too many disappointments with dolls ordered online in the past year, and when QNPoohBear posted an offering of personal shopping, I knew it was a sign that now was the time to pick up Julie. Julie was kindly handpicked out at the Natick store. Doll: Julie has very silky, straight almost white-blonde hair. I compared her to Caroline, and their hair colors are very close, but Caroline appears to have more yellow in her hair overall, while Julie has more white. Mine has a skin part and a medium thickness. I did not have any problems braiding Julie's hair. My only complaint is that hair is starkly lacking on the back of her head. Pulled into pigtails, I can see the wigcap very easily, and there is a clear lack of short hairs. I am not sure how common this is, but I like Julie for all of her other features, so I will be keeping this particular doll, as she is special to me. Her face is absolutely adorable, and while I prefer feathered eyebrows, the line eyebrows work well with her light hair color. I love the Josefina mold, and it works well with Julie. I believe my doll has the regular (not dark brown) brown pinwheel eyes, which is a nice break from blue or hazel eyes always paired with blonde hair. Her limbs are squishy like my old PM dolls, so I am guessing she is from the batch of dolls that people noticed coming out last year with the same squishy limbs. Perfect, minus the lack of short hairs. A-Outfit: I cannot honestly say Julie's meet outfit as a whole is my favorite, but the picture of the new one was even less appealing to me. All together, it does not thrill me too much, but the individual pieces work great for mix and match purposes. I was genuinely surprised the belt was actually tied, and not with a back velcro closure, so a thumbs up for that. I can certainly work the peasant top, turtleneck and sandals into my modern wardrobe with ease as well. Slightly annoying is the super long tag attached to the clear plastic elastic of the right sandal. Can be easily cut off, but since I hate cutting off tags, it makes it slightly difficult to put the sandal on. AOverall, I am glad Julie has made it into my collection, after hemming a bit whether it should be her or one of the retiring best friends (Ruthie or Ivy). I wish BeForever was not putting pressure on my purchasing timeline, but I wanted the original meet outfits on my historical girls, and decided I rather have the main characters over the best friends. I can see why she has appeal to the target market (she is my little cousin's favorite, tied with Kit), and she is much more appealing in person.

I found my Julie at a doll show. I spotted her from across the room and just knew that she was "my" Julie. She is so pretty! I love her pretty white-blond hair and warm chocolate-brown eyes. Her face mold is one of my favorites, and although line brows are not my favorites, they look really good on her. Her meet outfit is one of my favorites. I give her an A+!

Well I don't have pictures to share but I thought I'd report on the new Beforever Julie doll I just purchased online from AG.
I was worried about the permapanties, so I called AG directly, and asked specifically for a non permanent underwear doll. It took the CS lady quite a while to find the proper "code" to place the order, but she obviously knew what she was doing, because that is what I did receive (it said, "Julie special order" on my invoice.)
I received Julie about a week later. She does have a "normal", non PP torso, and is wearing cute purple underwear. Her torso is the new, thinner fabric, though and her stuffing quite lumpy. Whoever switched her body didn't do the greatest job, either, as her zip tie is really pushing against the neck fabric and her head is very tight, too tight to turn much at all from side to side.
On the plus side, I see no smudges, marks, or shine spots on her head or limbs. Best of all, her eyes are beautiful and look like the good, old eyes of past AG quality, and her hair really is lovely. It's nicely cut (straight) across the bottom, is reasonably thick, and the wig is nice and smooth and perfectly centered (unlike my new BF Felicity for example, whose wig is quite lumpy on top.)
All in all, I'm glad I finally broke down and got "the 70s doll". She really is very beautiful and I am overall very pleased with her quality. In the things that count, I think I made it just under the wire to obtain a nice Julie doll directly from AG.

I took these pictures of a Julie I picked out for a board member at AG Boston several years ago. I looked through the boxes and noted a wide variety of face shapes. Some had more of the classic mold and others had more prominent cheeks and teeth, making Julie resemble a vampire. I tried to choose one I would pick out if I liked Julie, with a more rounded face.

My daughter's Julie is from 2013. Right before BF she decided she wanted her and wanted her original meet. She is her only doll purchased as an adult. Julie has nice silky hair although it is stick straight.
