Your Addy doll has beautiful brown eyes that sparkle and shine as they open and close. She has lots of hair that you'll love to brush and braid. Sweep it all back with a silky blue ribbon to show the golden earrings she always wears. In 1864, many young girls - even babies - wore them as a proud reminder of their African heritage. Her soft body is very huggable and her head, arms, and legs pose so she can sit, stand, and hold the delightful accessories in her collection. When you first meet Addy, she'll be wearing a striped dress of old-fashioned "cinnamon pink" given to her by Miss Caroline, who helped Addy and Momma escape to freedom. Addy's drawers peek out beneath her skirt. Pull her stretchy black stockings up over her knees and lace up her cap-toes boots. Your Addy doll comes, as shown here, with a Meet Addy book.Overall Grade: A++++ Addy is just a beautiful doll and I love her character. I have a 1993 Addy from the first release whose clothing is tagged "Made in Germany." I've had two of these German-made Addy dolls, my current and one other, as well as several China-made PMs who have come through my home on the way to their new mommies. There is a distinct difference between the two PM Addys, and the details are in the comparison chart and photos on my website (in siggy). At any rate, German-made Addy is just lovely and by far my favorite edition of Addy. Her vinyl is dark and squishy. Her face has a little rosiness to her cheeks and lips. Her eyes are lovely- dark brown with the pinwheel pattern and they have soft brown eyelashes. Her hair is very long and very thick, and it is coarser than the Mattel girls. I like it- it isn't the best probably for a child since it is difficult to manage, but there is lots and lots of it for styling and it is has a nice, authentic texture. Addy's meet outfit is very nice. The dress looks great on her and is so cute, and she has nice, detailed pantaloons. She also has nice quality socks and great black lace-up boots. Addy is just so cute.

My Addy is also a first release German Addy and pictures don't do her justice. She's a bit on the chubby side-definitely my chubbiest girl, but she's sturdy. Addy's hair is very textured and knots easily. It takes care and patience to unknot her hair, but it's fun to style. Addy doesn't photograph well but she is gorgeous in person. Grade: A [/url

I bought my PM Addy within a week of her 1st release. She has beautiful thick hair that has a very realistic texture. She is however, too chubby to fit easily into some of her outfits. She is the fattest AG doll I have.

My early PM Addy is also my chubbiest doll. I haven't had any issues with her clothing yet unless I use her undies set with the petticoat and hoop so my Addy is usually hoop-free.

I found an Addy today at Goodwill and I was so happy! Her neck was stamped "Pleasant Company" and her dress has a tag inside that says, "Made in China for Pleasant Company, 1993". She's quite pretty (I was surprised) and I love her soft vinyl and squishy body. She also seems quite plump, much larger than my 2000 AGOT #19 (who is a very chubby girl). Her eyelashes are soft brown, and her earrings still look like new. The only quabble I have is with her hair. Someone had cut it but it was still in bad condition, quite dry and she sheds. If AG had given her better hair I would give Addy an A+. (I do love styling the textured hair though! I've never had a doll with textured hair.) As it stands, she gets an A.

I have a PM addy from when I was a kid ( Xmas of 1993- still has the hang tag that says "dolls made in Germany exclusively for Pleasant Company). A Beautiful doll. Sturdy and well made, very detailed- right down to the threading around her black boot lace holes. She is also a heavy doll. I only wish I had left in her original braid ( but I was 11).

I have a 1993 Made in China Addy that I won on eBay from the original owner. I don't know why I was hesitant on Addy. She's a beautiful doll. She's so much prettier in person than in catalog pictures. She's has a gorgeous skin tone and such an adorable face. I really love her "Meet" outfit too. It's very classic and simple. My Addy's hair is very textured, coarse, and kind of pouffy. I was intimidated by that at first but the more I play with it, the more fun it is. I'm so glad that I have her and I think her collection is one of the better ones. I highly recommend her.
ETA - I foolishly sold the original Addy that I wrote about above. I regretted it and ended up replacing her with another PM Addy right around the same age. This PM Addy though is in better condition than the first (almost like new). I couldn't imagine not having Addy in my collection. I think she's wonderful.

My McKenna, aka 1997 Addy, is STUNNING. Her hair is very easy to brush and style, and it has stayed pristine for 13 years. I had a Mattel Addy who's hair went very dry very fast, and I don't have that Addy anymore. But McKenna's hair isn't dry at all! Her skin is also very pretty; it's not as dark as Mattel Addy's, but it's got a very smooth texture to it. She's also got mild to moderate silver eye, but in my opinion, it looks very pretty on McKenna. She fits into clothes, both Mattel and PM, just perfectly.
Definitely an A+++ for PM Addy!

When I originally wrote this review, I put it in the wrong thread, so I'm moving it here. I got my Addy as a kid (I believe I was 10), so she's about 12 years old. She's stamped Pleasant Company, but she isn't one of they really early German ones. She was my first AG, and she's absolutely beautiful! I adore her face and soft brown eyes. The only thing is that her hair has shed quite a bit, but as I understand it that's not terribly rare in Addys from around that time... I brushed and styled it quite a bit when I still played with her. It's not as full or even as long as it used to be, but it's still pretty nice... nothing I can't live with. It's really soft and pretty. Her meet outfit is wonderful... the dress has stood up beautifully all this time, as have the boots and stockings. The elastic in the back of the drawers is going slightly loose, but it isn't too bad. Doll : A+++ Outfit : A Book : A (I loved all her books as a kid, and had them way before I even got the doll!) My lovely eldest girl: Hair (so you can see what I mean about the shedding):

Here's how Addy can look with her hair down: Her hair is beautiful. It doesn't flare out as poufy as one might think it would - it's just right to me. Also, one thing guaranteed is that it will be the softest doll hair you will EVER find.

My Addy is wearing her dress by Cherry Walks in the above picture- it's called the Queen Alice Dress. Addy loves reading, and has kind of a "thing" about that fabulous new story, published in 1865, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. She has quite an active imagination!:

I purchased my darling PM Addy from a fellow board member. She is a 1993 Addy in good condition. I used some wrinkle releaser in her hair to make it more shiny and easier to brush. I took several pictures of her today. Couldn't quite decide on what I was going to have her wearing today. So I have pictures of her in a number of dresses. Kaya has been wearing Addy's birthday dress so, I took a picture of them together. First thing I did when she got home I changed her hair style On the way home from the post office.

When I discovered AG in 2009 I immediately fell in love with Addy. Being a white British women it is not the doll I expected to be most attached to but I was head over heels in love. So in 2013 I bought an PM Addy of eBay as I liked the look of the older one better. Addy has dark skin, her skin tone is beautiful and she looks stunning in light colours such as yellows and bright blues. She has the Addy face mold, this face mold is one of my favourites it is just so pretty. She has the lined eyebrows which I don’t mind that much, light brown pinwheel eyes and her best feature super long textured dark brown hair. I was scared about caring for it but all I do is run my fingers through her hair and she is ready to go. I LOVE Addy’s meet outfit, though I am not normally a fan of pink, it goes so well with her skin tone, I like the design as well, the bloomers are nothing special but look great under her dress. The socks are just black and I love her boots as they are cute and even go well with modern outfits. Overall, this little lady gets an huge A+ from me I just love everything about her I have no complaints.

I fell in love with Addy over twenty years ago and first had a Mattel Addy followed by a MIB 1993 Addy, now also have the modern one. The 1993 Addy got her hair reconditioned with 'Son-of-a-Gun' product and I just looked at her, could be time to do it again. I french braided their hair, and it stayed nicely. My Addy dolls are in their dollhouse in their beds. I collected as much of the original Addy collection as I could, dresses in multiples for my 3 dolls. They visit Samantha and Nellie in their own dollhouse, too. I have many Original Cabbage Patch Kids and now, getting older, may downsize some of those but not Addy or Samantha or Nellie or Molly or Emily, there are just some dolls you NEVER downsize. They will be with me to the end. The only trunk I ever collected was Addy's. Hers is full. It is the original trunk and I keep it in a cabinet in my bedroom, take it out periodically to check contents and for memories. The original Addy ironstone compote set is neatly in its box. I even have her cutter sled. Haven't continued adding her modern day apparel but just might start again. It was good to visit here on a Sunday morning. Thank you.
