Kirsten's PM red boots are stiff plasticy faux leather. The laces are nylon and thin and slippery. They have coated ends like shoelaces and they lace through holes in the boots. The boots do not have grommets, which is historically accurate. The soles are plastic and have a small flat heel. They fit nicely and come almost all the way up her ankles and cover her socks. The tongue can split away from the rest of the boot easily. The material could be better and I like the yarn laces of the newer version better.

The back of one of my red boots seems to be separating slightly (the seam is not as tight as the other one). They have a PM sticker on the bottom, so maybe it is different with Mattel (and it may be due to age). Very cute, go nicely with the winter and summer outfits

This was my giving in to Kirsten being archived purchase (well these and her pantalettes), and I'm pleased enough with them. They are pretty much identical to the black boots from her shoes and socks set, but in red with brown laces. The red is a darker shade than they looked to be in pictures and I like the darker colour better and the laces are a cotton string that is long enough to tie easily and stays tied without a problem. One very major difference from the boots pictured on the AG site though is that these DO NOT have the metal grommets. I'm still not sure if I'm disappointed about that or not, they are more authentic but less sturdy. Like Kirsten's black boots, these fit my PM doll fine which is nice. A- ETA: I was at an AG store and the display boots had the grommets so I guess I just got an old pair or something. Anyways, here is a pic of my nearly brand new Mattel boots:

These are a MUST for Kirsten's wardrobe! I bought them mainly b/c the Kirsten I bought did not any boots of any kind. And I think these good with ALL her core 6 outfits so well. There are others I think would go well also, but I don't know which. Mine are new from AG, and feel thin or cheap, but from what I hear they are accurate to the period. I would have probably bought these if I were buying a new Kirsten, just b/c I can't stand the moccasin ones she comes with. lol My overall view: A

I have two pairs of these boots - an older PM pair, that does not have grommets, and a newer Mattel pair, that does. I prefer the older pair, because they are more historically accurate, and the red is slightly more subdued. However, for a young child I'd definitely want them to be using the grommet-ed pair. :-) I think it would be just too easy to tug the laces too tight on the older pair and rip through.

You know, it's an okay buy. My mom got them for me a few years ago, and one of the grommets is coming out. I wouldn't have bought them, I don't buy shoes from AG, because I think it's a waste of money, but I'm glad that I got these. B+
