Released in 1996, retired in 2000.
These giant playscape scenes are carefully illustrated in fine detail. Look closely and you'll discover "hidden" details that make Scenes & Settings even more lifelike! And because the sturdy portfolio can open to reveal four of the five scenes at once, it's like having a four-room playhouse for your American Girl.
Lightweight, sturdy, and designed to last, Scenes & Settings is easy to take anywhere you want to play. The thick pages fold flat and snap closed for quick storage, a built-in handle makes carrying easy, and the entire portfolio weighs just seven pounds.
Scenes & Settings is a picture-perfect way to bring to life the stories of the American Girls. Kirsten's Scenes & Settings contains: Cover, America!, The Larson Cabin, Powderkeg School, Berkhoff's General Store, The North Woods.
When open, each scene measure 4'10" wide by 2' tall. When snapped shut, the portfolio measures 2'5" wide by 2' tall. It weighs approximately 7 lbs.
These are awesome! Even though they are not to scale, they contain a lot of cool little details. They contain scenes for the dock in New York; Larson's cabin, Powderkeg School; the woods and Barkhoff's General Store. Looking closely at the dock scene, you will spot Kirsten, Mama, Papa and Peter with Kirsten peering into a shop window. The Larson's cabin scene is probably unrealistic with a big Christmas tree, but the tree has little straw and wood Scandinavian ornaments, most of which I have for my own tree! The General store shows chickens in crates like Josefina's and other cool little touches. Kirsten's scenes are better than Samantha's!
Grade: A+
