This outfit was worn by Nellie in the DVD Samantha: An American Girl Holiday. Released in 2004, retired with archival in 2008.
Pajamas like these were all the rage in Nellie's day. They feature delicate flower embroidery and matching slippers with lavender pompons.I love this outfit. The satin is nice and heavy. The embroidery is purple, green and yellow and is quite lovely. The shirt actually buttons, no velcro, and the buttons are sewn on tightly. (Although it is relatively difficult to get the buttons buttoned.) The slippers are kind of an eh; they seem kind of old-lady-ish with the hard soles and pompoms, and don't seem very comfortable. But they're still cute. My only objection is that this outfit is not historically accurate. It's far too early for girls to be wearing pajamas! Overall: B+

I totally agree with the review - these are cute pajamas, but would seem more accurate to a later time period (maybe a Kit or Molly era). My daughter's modern dolls wear them too.

This is my favorite outfit for Nellie. I am glad there are real buttons and no velcro. I am actually glad she got pajamas. Pajamas were introduced around 1870-1880, and although they were for men, I don't think it would be completely unheard of for Nellie to have these. Nellie was a worker girl, after all, and took what she could get. Also, couldn't Aunt Cornelia and her "new fangled ideas" have influenced these? Anyway, back to the pajamas themselves. I really like the color and the embroidery. The only thing I find annoying is that mine seem to be permanently creased. I like the slippers, they seem very sturdy and the pom poms are cute. A

I would give this an A as well. I think the lavender is very nice looking on the doll and is a less popular color choice throughout the historical collections. The detailed trim on the both the shirt and pants really make the outfit for me. I personally think the shoes are cute but a little like Kit's. I think the fabric is very soft and would be comfortable to sleep in.

I like Nellie's Pajamas. The color is one of my favorite colors in the world. The slippers are very Blah and fall off all the time. I do not find this historicly acurate though it could be one of Corneila's new fangled ideas but in the book illistration in meet samantha or Nellie's promise (I can't remember which) she is wearing much more acuratley styled nightclothes.

What? No pictures? Here's the outfit: Here's the details: And the pom pom: They feel so soft, I can't believe. I might want the big girl versions.

I was shocked by this outfit, the pjs are SO CUTE. I was surprised by the real buttons, which are tiny and hard to button for little girls.
My DD loves this outfit but it's hard for her to get on because of the buttons.
I give it a A+ as an adult collector and a B for the kids..

I love Nellie's pajamas! My Marisol has claimed them for her own. They are sort of hard to button though. The slippers don't seem very comfortable but are cute. I love the lavender color of the pajamas. B+

I love everything about these! I knew I couldn't get a lot for CHristmas but I made sure my mom knew how much I wanted these, and she actually got them for me! Even though they were the only AG thing I got, I am still thrilled with them! They are nice to feel and Nellie has been wearing them since Christmas! The slippers are really cute too, my modern girls are definatley going to be sneaking these from Nellie... :] A+

This outfit is absolutely adorable. The color is beautiful and the embroidery is a nice touch. I love that AG used 'real buttons' instead of velcro for this item. I love the feel of them, but the satin makes me nervous. They are EXTREMELY thin. I get nervous every time I put them on a doll, if velcro would attach to them, it would most-likely create a big run. The slippers are very soft, and easy to slip on. I honestly would not give these to anyone under the age of eleven or twelve, because they are somewhat delicate. I purchased them from AG around February fifteenth, and paid $22.00. They are worth the price, as long as you're careful with them. Pictures: ^ On Nellie ^ On Mia

Review of nelliegirl's Nellie pjs This two piece pajama set is really nice. The fabric is soft polyester satin in a beautiful lavender. The floral trim is a nice contrast. The top really buttons which is an excellent touch. The elastic waist pants are generouslly cut and fit even the largest behinds. Grade: A They are, actually, accurate for the time, even for girls. At least in style.

I think these are really cute an I love the detail on the trim. The color is beautiful! I don't like the little buttons on the top. I can barely manage them as an adult and I don't see them being easy for a child to button.

These are actually accurate, here they are in a 1903 copy of the Delineator, which AG uses when designing clothes for the Samantha collection:
