A blue-and-white swimsuit that is similar in design to this one is depicted in Meet Kit. Released in 2005 and retired in 2007.
In Kit’s time, swimming and playing at the beach was a cheap and easy way to stay cool on long summer days. Kit’s swimsuit has a matching swim cap to keep her hair dry. Beach shoes and sunglasses complete her look, and the parasol keeps her from getting too much sun (it really opens and closes!). Includes American Girl trading cards.
Kit’s 1934 Swimsuit
$24 QYO
Grade: A-
This set includes Kit's swimsuit, swim cap, parasol, shoes and sunglasses as well as some trading cards.
This set is terrific! Lots of pieces, lots of play value for your money with or without a coupon code. Very, very cute!
When I first saw this, I was not very impressed. I ordered it because I want to complete Kit's collection.
When it arrived, I was so glad I bought it! It is so much cuter in person. Well worth every penny. A very nice set.
The swimsuit is a good fit, and it looks so cute it is easy to think of it as a sun dress. I was under the impression it was red and white stripes (I tend to see whatever color I want too, I guess, lol) but it is indeed red and light YELLOW strips. While the colors may not sound like an appealing combination , they are very cute together. The belt is attached and has a cute oval buckle.
The swim cap goes on well and does not totally ruin he hairdo.
The shoes are so sweet. They look just like the ones pictured on the front cover of "Danger at the Zoo". They would be adorable with her "Red Fans" outfit too.
The amber tortoise shell glasses are priceless! I absolutely love them. They look so cute on Kit. They do not look as goggle-like as they do in the picture, they look like sunglasses.
The parasol is beautiful, but unfortunately this is where the minus part of the A- comes in...
The parasol LOOKS terrific. It is beautiful, a nice print, a great size. It is terrific EXCEPT for the plastic it is made of. Mine already has an old and brittle feel to it.The plastic has a very matte, papery feel. Mine has been opened up all of three times, and it is already showing wear to the vinyl. With much use at all, this piece is not going to last. I would love to see this item remade with something like "Tyvek" (the rip proof plastic-like paper that some Priority Mail envelopes are made out of, it is available in many thicknesses) My parasol came with some of the color already missing from the red tip of the umbrella where the color on the vinyl did not survive being stretched to cover the end, if that makes sense. So there are white places on the edges of the tip of the umbrella- see pictures below.
