This item was released in 2000 and retired in 2012.
This handmade doll was a special gift to Kit. She’s an aviator, just like Kit’s heroine, Amelia Earhart! Her cap, goggles, jacket, and gloves are removable.Kit’s Aviator Doll $16 QCAD Grade A+ This is Kit’s Aviator Doll. I am not particularly fond of this doll because I like my dolls to be pretty but that would not be Kit's style, so I think this little doll suits her perfectly. Kit’s Aviator Doll is very nicely detailed and has a sweet little stitched face. The website says cap, goggles, jacket, and gloves are removable.I have only removed her cap and gloves, and her gloves were tricky to get back on. I give Kit's doll and A+ for all of the cute details.

I really love Kit's doll. She's really adorable, and just like Kit would have wanted. The fact that her gloves, jacket, and hat come off is a nice touch. The little tie is too cute! My only complaint is that the hat tends to fall off a lot. I still give it an A.

I've seen Nellie Girl's Kit's doll and I think she's very sweet. I love that she looks like the real Amelia Earhart and I love the removable pieces. This is a very nice quality doll.

AG has changed Kit's Amelia doll. Now her coat is no longer removable, and neither is her hat. I could easily clip a couple of threads connecting her had to her head and remove it, but what really bugs me it the coat. Amelia's arms are way too short and her hands don't even poke out of the bottom of the sleeves. Her gloves look useless flapping there without any hands in them.
Needless to say, I'm going to return this version of the doll, and head to ebay.

Yep, the new (2008) Aviator doll doesn't have any removable pieces. However, with a couple snips of threads, you could remove her hat and gloves. The sleeves of her jacket are too long, so you can't see her hands and her gloves are attached at the ends by a couple threads in the seam, which make her arms look really long. But by pushing up her sleeve you can make her hands peek out and her gloves fit better. She's cute. Grade B+ ETA: NOW her things come off! Just a few snips of threads on her hat, a few on her gloves and several down the front of her jacket, and voila! She's as good as the non-revised Aviator Doll that had removable items! I hemmed up the sleeves of her jacket 1/4" so her hands could peek out and added a snap to the front to keep it closed now that it's removable. Much better. Now she gets a Grade A!

This doll is really sweet. I love how the clothing pieces really come off of the older version, making her very realistic. The only downer is that she cannot sit on Kit's bed--she has to stand or lay down. That could be remedied by taking out stuffing, and perhaps I will get around to doing that someday. Grade: A

I think the dolls’ dolls are worth collecting and this one is no exception.
Kit’s aviator doll is one of my favorite pieces in Kit’s collection. I tend to favor pieces that are important to the stories. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Kit’s books, the doll was handmade by Ruthie and her mother and was given to Kit in Kit’s Surprise. Like Kit, I’ve always been interesting in Amelia Earhart and her disappearance. That makes the doll even more appealing.
As many have mentioned, there are two versions of Kit’s doll. While both versions are nice, I prefer the original version with the removable coat and hat. It adds to the playability of the set. The jacket and hat on the newer version are not removable. The snap on the original jacket was replaced with embroidered ‘buttons’. However, the goggles can be shifted from her eyes to the top of her hat.
In addition to the clothing change, the newer doll has darker, less fluffy hair and is less squishy than the original. You may also notice a slight difference in the color and texture of the synthetic leather.
Grade A

We have the new version of this doll. I think I would have liked the older version better. I might try snipping some threads and see if that does the trick. She is a great doll on her own, it's just hard to give her an outstanding review when you know that she used to be better. Overall, I give her an A-! D~

I just received Kit's Aviator Doll in my order. Although I think the doll is cute (and I want her very much for Kit), I'm very bothered by the fact that her arms stick out. Her arms stick straight out practically at her sides. Is this normal? She reminds me of a gorilla. I have Nina, Josefina's Doll and Felicity's first version of her doll (and briefly had Ida Bean), and none of these dolls have this issue. I filled out the form to return her but I'm hesistant because other than the arms, I do like her, but if her arms really are this way, then I don't think I want her.

That is exactly how our Aviator doll is.I am only keeping her because it is part of her collection. But I hate that it is so stiff.

My aviator doll's arms are not as down as the AG photo, but she is sitting beside Sari on their bed and the dolls arms are at the same angle.

I just bought this doll from a board member, and it completes my collection of dolls specifically made for the historical dolls. I was not crazy about this doll from the onset, and did not have a Kit, so did not get her till now. But I give my Molly most Kit things, and with her aviator jacket, the doll fits her well.
For some reason, I did not expect the doll to be as big as she is. I wish she were an inch or so shorter. Also , yes, she is a very stiff doll even though she is the older version, and I got her second hand.
I give her a B, and only because that is a rather unique doll to have, it is part of the Kit story, and it does suit Molly as well. I would not have bought this doll for any of my dolls except it is part of the AG collection, however.

After about a year of hunting I finally found an Amelia complete for my Kit! She's everything I hoped she'd be. I think I have the newer version since the gloves are held on with a piece of thread.
