DD loves this set and it's adorable! The colors are bright, the print is fun. DD loves both the girl version for herself and the doll version for her doll. The doll nightie isn't as flannely as I thought it would be, but it is nice fabric and not too thick for the doll. The girl version washes well and doesn't wrinkle easily. Doll version has velcro up the back and decorative buttons on the front (no button holes). The girl version has a few buttons that actually button in front. The doll version comes with really cute slippers. We didn't get the girl version of the shoes-- to me they look cuter on a doll than a real girl.
The book with this one is "The Bitty Twin's Bedtime Story." I found this to be rather an odd little book, so did DH. The twins (brunette boy and girl in this book) are supposed to be going to bed. Together they make up a story about a queen and king who live on a rainbow. The queen and king are frightened of a giant they believe is getting close so they run away. In the story, the mom comes and brings the kids a bedtime snack but it's an odd choice to let the queen and king version of the twins run away from a fear rather than overcome the fear (there is suggestion that the giant is really the mom and thus not a scary giant, but it's a little subtle for young kids). Also a bit odd that the twins would be told to go to bed but a parent doesn't show up to tuck them in. I don't think we'll be reading this one much.
The outfit, on the other hand, is a must have. I've seen some pictures of it on 18" girls and it looks cute on them, too. However, I'm pretty sure DD won't be sharing this one with any of my dolls.
I give it an A
$50 for girl & doll nightie set
$24 for doll nightie (nightie, slippers, book)
$30 for girl nightie
$15 for girl slippers
