This is an awesome set! Very, very realistic! It consists of skis, ski poles, three different markers (start, finish, and one that says American Girl). There's also a helmet and ski goggles.
The boots are really nice and sturdy. They open and close like the real thing, and a velcro closure keeps them closed--just like the real thing. The skis are really neat--the boots really do snap in and out of them, and Nicki can really balance on her skis. They also have a nice design to them. The helmet is very sturdy and the goggles equally as sturdy. The helmet has a snap closure on the back so that you can keep the goggles in place. The ski poles Nicki has are somewhat of a little letdown--I have had a hard time getting her to hold them while her gloves are on. But they do look very nice and very realistic. The start, end and American Girl flag markers are also a nice touch, ensuring hours of play, especially if someone wanted to set up a doll sized ski slope for Nicki. Hey, I would have done it when I was ten! This set is very nice and highly recommended.
I too, love this set. It's definetly the best AG ski set I own (I have the downhill ski gear too). It comes with more things and the skis are shorter than the downhill which I like. The boots are wonderfully easy to get on.
The heel bends back for easy access:
Look how roomy it is! The downhill boot can't do that.
I love the colors of the helmet. I decorated mine with the stickers.
The goggles are detachable in the back with a snap:
The ski pole isn't too hard to get on especially if you put it on the mitten before putting on the doll's hand.
The skis themselves are really easy to get on. You just pull the part that attaches to the boot back and slide the boot in.
The flags are such a cute addition and make the skiing play so much more fun and realistic. The green one says start, yellow is American Girl and orange is finish. They stay in their holders very well.
