Fresh & Fun EarringsItem# F5361 These earrings were made to mix and match! Includes three sets of pierced studs, plus three pairs of funky dangles that attach to the posts for lots of fun looks. Flower studs with star hoop dangles. Rhinestone stud with purple butterfly dangles. Red rhinestone stud with red heart dangle. These are all very cute, but the butterfly dangle is less than impressive. Quality is good! Grade: A-

Fancy EarringsItem# F5375 These earrings are party-perfect! Includes three sets of pierced studs, plus three pairs of fancy dangles that attach to the posts for mix-and-match looks. Blue earrings with blue dangles. Gold studs with gold "comb" dangles. Silver studs with white heart dangles. These earrings are very nice. My only reservation is that the thread holding the heart and blue dangles does not look very sturdy. I recommend being gentle with the dangles. Grade: A

Plaid Party Dress: Item# F3615 My American Girl® dolls will look party-perfect in this pretty plaid dress!
It features:
A sleeveless plaid dress with a gathered sash at the waist, button details, and a ruffle on the bodice Sandals with a bow accent, plus an elastic strap to keep them in place A plastic diamond-shaped barrette for her hair Includes a "Confident" heart charm for the doll's charm-keeper necklace.I bought this outfit for my doll Coral and it's really lovely! The dress is really spring-like and the shoes are adorable. The fabric is nice and smooth, not too stiff at all. I found that the shoes fit very well. There is a strap in the back to keep them on that does its job. The shoes are a navy purplish color. My only real frustration with the dress is the sash. It's not separate from the dress, though it looks like it in the front, where it runs through belt loops. In the back, it is stitched down for ease of dressing. I can understand why AG chose to do it that way, but it would be nice to have a separate sash. What surprised me most about the dress is the trim- it looks like ric rack in the online photos, but is really very nice crocheted trim! Overall, I really like this dress and I'm very glad to have purchased it. Grade: A

This outfit is just lovely. It's nice to have a break from the usual red dresses AG's had for the last several years. The bodice is fitted nicely and the tights are high quality. The headband has a huge tag on it that necessitates scissors, but otherwise looks fine. If you don't push it far enough back on the doll's head, you can get a bit of a gap between the head and the headband (which looks silly). The shoes are okay, but they don't quite match the dress and they're not particularly stylish. Grade: A-

This fall, the PWP is a pink fair isle cardigan sweater. It's $16 with a $50 purchase. It is well-made, with working buttonholes- no velcro to snag here! The buttonholes are a bit snug on the buttons, but I like that because then the buttons don't slip out during wear. The sweater also has a little American Girl tag on the wrist, pictured below. This is indeed an odd shirt. I was prepared for the raw edges on the sleeves, but not the weird ruching. I knew it would have the ruching, but I was not ready for how uneven the shirt looks with said feature. Grade: B-

My mini Caroline came today. I bought her on Amazon, so I am pleased, but had I paid the AG price, I would be disappointed. Caroline's hair is not curled, but instead slightly wavy. Furthermore, my particular Caroline has longer hair on one side that the other. Otherwise, she is fine, though I think the ruffle at her neckline should be smaller. Grade: B

Your 18" Caroline doll has light aquamarine eyes that open and close. Sweep back her long golden-blonde hair, or let her curls tumble to her waist. Caroline arrives in an empire-waist dress with woven floral sash, lacy pantalettes, ribbed-knit stockings, and pink shoes. P9-F1390 $105I was very happy to purchase my Caroline doll! She doesn't fit my usual characteristics in a doll, but I find her to be lovely. She has unusual sea green eyes and long curly platinum blonde hair. I find her to make a lovely foil to my character Coral. Her wig isn't thick, but I wouldn't call it thin. It's a happy medium. It's quite long and I am concerned about maintaining her curls, but I am sure I can learn. Grade: A Photos: Meet Freyja Schultz! by Colette Denali, on Flickr

I originally declined to purchase the MyAG Kayak and Gear set because of its similarity to Jess's kayak. However, time passed, the kayak set retired, and I decided I still needed it. One detail that drove me to pick it over the Jess set is that it doesn't say "Belize Adventure" on the side, has more realistic coloring, and the paddles are shaped more appropriately. The set includes:
- inflatable kayak
- blue drawstring storage bag
- red life vest
- paddle
Please not that the box and the kayak both state that they should not be placed in water. I placed my kayaks into flowing water at my own risk; I recommend that you only do this if you are prepared for the potential consequence of a wet doll! The kayak does float well, although it tends to loll from side to side because it cannot support the weight of a doll. When I was using it, I placed rocks under the kayak to hold it flat. It's a great toy! The life jacket is well-made, though the straps are a bit loose. I thought it should fit more tightly, but it's not a big problem. The bag easily fits both the kayak (when deflated, obviously) and the life jacket. Like the Jess paddle, the MyAG kayak paddle is a rain stick. It's not particularly lovely sounding, the beads tends the thunk from one side to the other in a most unpleasant way, but it's a cute touch. Overall, I'm glad I was gifted with this set! Grade: A

As of Summer 2012, there are two new packages of Adorable Accents. These now sell for $10. One is the above lavender set with a card for making a Braidy Bun. The other is a turquoise set.

Hiking Accessories - $38 Item# W0908 My American Girl® dolls can go exploring with this outdoorsy gear:
- A hooded jacket that zips up and has pockets, side tab details, and an embroidered leaf on the front
- A faux headlamp with a stretchy strap, plus a make-believe compass with a spinning dial to keep her on the right path
- She can store essentials in the hip bag decorated with an Innerstar University™ patch, which even has a special spot for holding her pretend water bottle
Review: First of all, I have to mention how flipping expensive this set is! You get a jacket and few little accessories and it's almost $40. I would expect this set to be around $28, which is what the similar Lanie Nature Accessories cost in 2010. Still, this set is really cute and it's perfect for my Inky, who wants to be a park ranger when she grows up. Here's Inky in the full set. I "improved" upon the jacket by putting one of Inky's Junior Ranger patches on it, but I'm sure you can imagine how it would look sans patch. The whole look is very busy, but I know 10 year old me would have been thrilled with it! The little fanny pack is pretty cute. I'm not exactly a fan of fanny packs, but I did have one when I was the target age. I love how the water bottle fits into the little holder, but I'm disappointed there's an Innerstar U logo on it. The headlamp is great. I have a headlamp I wear when camping and I love it. As a kid, I dearly wanted one of my own- I would have loved this one. The strap is all bright colors, just like real headlamps. The only downside is that it doesn't actually turn on. Would it have been that much harder to put in a tiny LED? The little compass is super cute. It's on a yellow lanyard that's adjustable. You can stretch it out so that you can get it over your AG's huge head, but then tighten it up so the compass doesn't hang all the way down over her nether regions. Basically, this set is pretty cool. I'd give it an A rating if it weren't for the price. Sadly, the high prices probably aren't going to go away. This is a great set though- I recommend it!

I really like the new hiking outfit and accessories. However, I was not a big fan of the pink/purple hiking boots or the hideous pink tee. Luckily, a fellow board member did like them and took them off my hands. In this photo, you can see the yellow socks & blue shorts. These are very cute and well-made! The shorts are pretty short, but they fit nicely. The yellow socks are very cute and they still show up when wearing the boots I put on Inky (they're the hiking boots from the 2007 Adventure Outfit.) This is a photo of the 5 different AGP Adorable Accents packs. They sell for $8. At AGP-NY, they come in and out of stock, but this is the full range I've seen over the past two years. Each includes at least two scrunchies, but the rest of the pack varies with soft pony-o's, clips, ribbon, and star clips.

The Polar Bear Sweater Set was available as a purchase with purchase in Fall 2011. I bought one for myself and one for a friend, photos are as follows: The sweater is cute, but I don't really care for the turtleneck and the tomato-ey color. I would have preferred a deeper red like the 2009 holiday sweater set.

The scrunchies in the above photos are from Goody- I was too lazy to change my doll's hair to show the hair bits that come with the outfit. Here are some additional photos of the leotard and tights from this outfit. (I used the slippers from the 2-in-1 outfit with the elastics modified to crossed elastics. As I said in my first post, I'm really not fond of the slippers from this version of the ballet outfit.)

I got Lindsey for a song a few years ago. Unfortunately, I never really bonded with her so off she went to a board member. Here she is in a leotard for ballet class:

In mid-September, a friend purchased an Ivy from AGP-NY. She asked me to look over the doll to make sure she was a good pick. That's when I discovered the ear plugs. As you can see in the above photo, Ivy now comes with small vinyl, skin-toned inserts between her earring and her ears. I find this rather unattractive, but after going back to the store and looking through the Ivies for sale, they all had the plugs.
