As mentioned the suspenders could have been better. I didn't realize the suspenders had slipped when taking this photo, but you can see they are askew. The skirt also has to be pulled a up a littler higher than typical in order to make the suspenders fit correctly. I really like the skirt itself, and it's great that the suspenders are not attached so that both can be used individually!

From the AG site: This button-front woven rayon shirt has a multicolored print and cuffed sleeves. It comes with a purple tie with elastic around the neck. SKU#: GRN63 $10 The tie is attached to a flat elastic band similar to some of the AG headbands. It closes in the back with Velcro and is easy to get on and off. The buttons on the shirt are fully functioning. I like the extra detail of the small cuffs at the end of the sleeves too.

This outfit was part of an October 2020 release (available in stores in September 2020) and it retired in September 2023. It was part of Julie's second birthday collection, which also included Julie's Birthday Accessories. Julie's first birthday collection (which included her Birthday Dress and Birthday Goodies) was available 2008 to 2014.Julie knows that the grooviest way to celebrate her birthday is with a barbecue at the beach with her friends and family. For her special day, she wears: A dress with a purple crocheted top and a multicolored floral maxi skirt A light-blue felt hat with an oversized brim that protects her from the bright California sun Brown sandals with embroidered flowers SKU#: GPJ44$36 I think this outfit looks so much nicer in person than it does on the website and I'm really glad I got it. The skirt is a flowy material and goes just about down to the floor. The top part is a rich purple color with a circular crocheted type pattern. The top ties behind her neck and has a velcro closure on the other part of the back. The hat is beautiful and made of a nice thick/stiff felt material. I was also impressed with the packaging because there was a clear hard plastic insert in the box that kept the hat perfectly shaped. The shoes are neutral and fairly versatile. The white flower is embroidered on the faux leather material. I like that the strap around the back of the ankle is a tan elastic instead of the clear plastic strips which tend to break eventually.

This outfit was released in 2021.From the AG site: When Courtney wants to do a workout video with her mom or just dance to her favorite music videos, she can get dressed in this aerobics outfit that includes:
A heather-gray cropped sweatshirt with pink and yellow bands on the sleeves and a graphic on the front A blue leotard with an allover print A pair of hot-pink leggings with ’80s-style stirrups at the feet A pair of blue knit leg warmers just like dancers wear A blue terry-knit sweatband to hold back her hair when she’s working out SKU#: GWM42$32 The sweatshirt is thicker than I thought it would be which is nice. The bands on the sleeves are actually made of sewn on grosgrain ribbon. The graphic on the front is the iron on type. I like the leotard and think it would double nicely as a bathing suit too. The stirrup leggings are stretchy and brightly colored. The blue leg warmers are ok, but after having them on Courtney for a few weeks they are a bit of a wrinkled mess now that I've taken them off. Not a huge deal for leg warmers that are worn scrunched anyway I guess. The headband is made of a fairly thick terry material and I had no problem getting it on and off. As with Courtney's overall collection, I like that all of these pieces can be mixed and matched with the rest of her wardrobe.

This item was released in 2019 and retired in 2022.From the AG website: A trip to the pinball arcade at a landmark San Francisco restaurant calls for a special outfit—and Julie flips for this one! It includes: A denim vest with fun embroidered art, inspired by ’70s roller disco outfits, and real metal buttons A matching pair of iconic bellbottom jeans with real front pockets and embroidered art A faux-suede pink newsboy cap A pair of red slingback wedge sandals with functioning white laces$36I had no interest in buying this outfit when it first came out, but ended up getting it on a whim during a promotion. The good:The hat is actually a really nice suede like material. It fits well and I like the button on the top. The embroidery on the vest and pants is really nice, and there is a lot of it. The vest has real working buttons which are metal. The not so good:I don't like the red contrast stitching at all. Also, there's no shirt! Did people really wear just a vest without a shirt underneath? I don't get that at all. The bottoms of the shoes are a hard plastic which isn't my favorite and there is nothing particularly special about them. Overall I don't love these pieces together, but I do like the potential for mixing and matching with other pieces to break up all that denim.

From the AG website: Tenney dreams big dreams in these sweet gingham-and-lace print pajamas, featuring:
A button-front top Shorts with a ruffled hem Blue moccasin slippers A blue headband
SKU #: DVL97 $24
The moccasins are my favorite part of this outfit. The outsides are made of a soft flannel like material that resembles suede leather a bit. The insides are white and the bottoms are made from a plastic material which makes them feel more like shoes than slippers. The bows are attached and feel like they are made of a cotton material. The ribbons from the bows extend all the way around the backs of the slippers which is a nice touch. There is no velcro anywhere on this outfit. The top buttons up the front with real buttons and the ruffled shorts have an elastic waist. Both pieces fit well. The coordinating prints look nice together and I especially like the coral piping around the color and front of the shirt. The headband is made of an elastic material and is fairly easy to get on. The color matches the shoes. Overall I'm happy with this set.

I bought this outfit as soon as it came out and it's definitely my favorite from Melody's collection. The jumper feels like a wool like material and the black accents are velvet. The back of the jumper has a velcro closure but it is the less snagging type. The gold buttons are actually metal and have a nice weight to them, and the pockets in the front are real. I like the 3/4 sleeve length on the t-shirt too! The ribbons are flat and you tie them yourself. The tights are pretty decent, standard AG tights. The strap on the shoes is sewn on so that they just slip on with no extra closures. They stay on pretty well, and for an outfit with tights I'm ok with no closure so there's less chance of snagging them on velcro.

All of the pieces in this outfit are really nice and the variety has great mix and match potential with other items. I didn't take a picture of the back of the boots, but there is a yellow fabric ribbon going up the back that ends in a tab at the top. It's a nice detail that makes them just a little extra special. Also, the soles of the shoes are made of a rubber type material which I much prefer to the hard plastic type. The sweater is great! It's a nice weight made from a soft material and has real buttons up the front. The skirt has a tiny faux leather belt like accent with a silver buckle at the top. The t-shirt is standard AG fare for a graphic tee. I prefer this outfit with the sweater buttoned up anyway so you don't see the design on the shirt anyway. It's nice to have some tights in a totally different color! The yellow matches the color of the ribbon/tab on the back of the boots and there is also a thin yellow line in the plaid pattern on the skirt. The hat is a floppy newsboy hat. It fits well.

I just recently purchased this outfit and I'm glad I finally did because it seems to have disappeared from the website now. The shirt is my favorite! It's similar to shirts I would wear my self and the blue is very pretty. The shorts are nice and have real working front pockets and a front Velcro closure. The shoes are cute, but the front straps are quite loose and they don't stay on Mia's feet very well. Also, the soles are hard plastic. The green jacket is a nice color. It zips closed and has a hood that fits well. The graphics on the front are some sort of iron on. The "camping" word on the heart is so small I didn't even notice it at first. I would have preferred the jacket to be plain, but the graphic isn't a deal breaker for me.

I agree with other reviewers and think these shoes are pretty great! The bottoms have that real shoe rubber feel which I really like. The laces are permanently tied in bows which makes it easy to have them looking nice. They close with 2 velcro tabs in the front. Most of the shoe is made of a shiny faux leather material, but the high top part at the top, around the sides and backs of the ankle are a different non shiny, puffy material.

From the AG website: Ciao! Ever dream of strolling through open-air markets in Rome or gliding along the canals in Venice? There’s so much to love about this Italy-inspired outfit that includes:
A long dress with a pattern inspired by colorful hand-painted tiles, ribbon ties at the shoulders, and a ruffle bodice and hem A pair of faux-leather sandals comfy enough for walking through outside markets A straw fedora with a turquoise hat band for shielding the Tuscan sun SKU#: GWB63
$34 The hat is a stiff straw like material with a pretty grosgrain ribbon. It doesn't sit down too well on Grace, but it's due to her braid in the front. It does fit much better on other dolls with their hair down. The dress is made of a floaty summery type fabric. The ribbon straps on the dress and the ribbon around the bottom match the ribbon on the hat. The dress has a velcro closure in the back so the ribbon bows on the shoulder straps don't actually tie and are permanently sewed in place. The brown cord around the middle is attached in the back but the bow in front comes apart and can be retied. The shoes are a nice neutral summer sandal. The bottoms are plastic which I don't love, but the jute type braids around the sides and the nice brown faux leather straps make up for that.

From the AG website: This garment-washed denim jacket with silver buttons is oversized so Courtney can layer it over her outfits. She can wear the sleeves rolled up or leave them down.
SKU#: GRN57Courtney's denom jacket was a must have for me since it's such a classic 80's piece. The jacket is well made and I really love all of the detail in the stitching. The buttons and buttonholes do function to close up the jacket though I imagine I'll probably use it mostly open. the buttons on the chest pockets are non functional but do have a real flap on top so they appear real. the side pockets are non functional as well but have nice details and again appear real.

She does look similar to Julie, but I much prefer Kira's feathered eyebrows over Julie's line eyebrows. I have not taken her hair out of the meet style yet, but overall her wig seems decent. Not super thick, but not thin either. I do really like the curls/waves in her hair. I really like her meet shirt. The designs near the shoulders are actually embroidered and the material has a nice weight and stretch to it. The skirt is pretty light weight, but has the double layers with the shorts part and the skirt overlay. Her shoes are nice. The soles are made of a thicker rubber material and have a feel that really resembles the bottom of a shoe. I feel like this is an area that AG sometimes cuts corners on so it's nice to see some decent shoes. I almost missed the bracelet in the box! It was behind the book in the plastic holder part. The bracelet wraps around twice and then there's a small silver bead that you poke through a slit in the band to attach it.

From the AG website: Kira feels at home on the property where her father grew up, but every day is still an adventure. Whether she’s out in the bush observing birds, eating a brekky sandwich, or hanging out in her Comfy Platform Tent with her friend Alexis, she wants to be prepared for anything, and remember every moment. Includes:
A multicolored outdoor backpack with a top flap opening and side pockets to carry everything she needs for fieldwork in the bush A koala keychain that attaches to her backpack to remind her of Bean, the orphaned koala joey she works with at the veterinary clinic A brown hat with a purple ribbon band that keeps the sun off her face when she’s working outside Two postcards with Australia graphics on the front and notes to her friends back home on the back Two photos of animals she’s helping care for at the animal sanctuary: a koala and a kangaroo SKU#: GVF45Kira's hat it made out of a tan felt and has a grosgrain ribbon around it. The hat looks nice, and is made of a very soft flexible felt type material. It's a world of difference from Tenney's pink hat from her hat and necklace set. I was expecting a similar type of stiff material, but it's much different. For me, as a collector, it's fine. Is it going to last with a child using it? Maybe not. The backpack is made of a nylon material and faux leather/vinyl straps and band around the bottom. The main compartment and 2 side pockets all close with a zipper that has a metal zipper pull. the small pocket on the front has a Velcro closure. It fits easily on the doll. The Koala keychain is adorable! It clips nicely on the backpack. I forgot to take pictures of the paper pieces, but they are the typical AG type paper items.

This outfit wasn't at the top of my list to purchase, but I have most of Maryellen's outfits and there was a sale going on, so I ordered it on a whim. I'm so glad I did, because after seeing in person I am totally impressed! The sweater fits nicely, and is extremely soft. The tights are nice and seem to be made of a thicker material than some of the other AG tights that I have. The shoes velcro closed and fit very well, not too tight. The dress and headband are also quality pieces.

From the AG Website:Whether her doll earned bronze, silver, or gold, they’ll be proud to represent the USA with this set that includes medals made of real metal. It features: A zip-front red, white, and blue nylon jacket with Team USA graphics A gold medal on a red, white, and blue ribbon for first place A silver medal on a red, white, and blue ribbon for second place A bronze medal on a red, white, and blue ribbon for third place A U.S. flag a doll can hold up proudly or drape over her shoulders using the attached thumb rings A booklet with tips on how to properly care for a flag SKU#: GMN88 $35Medals: These are fantastic! They are made of metal and feel very solid. The bands are a red white and blue grosgrain ribbon and the velcro at the back with the less snag type of velcro. Flag: I really like this too. It feels like a windbreaker nylon material and the stars are actually embroidered on! Each stripe is a separate strip of fabric that is sew together to make the flag. The corners have small elastic loops so a doll can hold it. There is a fairly small white AG tag sewn on the back of the flag. Jacket: This is made out of a light weight nylon material that is pretty thin. The zipper pull is metal and some other parts of the zipper are plastic. There is elastic in the cuffs of both sleeves. The back of the jacket has a large Team USA logo and the front has an American flag (not enough stars though!) and the Olympic rings. Booklet: I forgot to take a picture. They are calling this a booklet, but it is really just a tri-fold square of shiny stiff paper. It includes tips about caring for a flag. Overall I am pleased with this set. I like that the jacket works with any of the other Team USA outfits, but the medals and flags steal the show in this set.

From the AG Website:Infield, outfield, or up to bat, have a ball with this Team USA set. It includes: A softball jersey with a stars-and-stripes graphic on the front White pants Blue socks A pair of cleats A helmet with a removable batting mask A plastic bat A doll-sized yellow softball A faux-leather glove A fielder’s mask for playing outfield or infield positions Two hair ties with red satin ribbons A home plate Three bases with the American Girl Inner Star logo A pitcher’s plate SKU#: GMB44 $60Pants: I like the feel of the material on these. They have quite a bit of stretch to them and they also have 2 functional back pockets! The navy blue belt is attached at the hips (not in the front) and only shows on the front. It's made of an elastic material. There is a silver star graphic at the hip. There is also a clear plastic AG tag sewn on the back. Jersey: This fits well and has non snag velcro up the back. Socks: These socks are navy blue and fairly nice. Nothing remarkable though. Cleats: These are very cute, but man are they hard to get on! One shoe went on slightly easier than the other, but it was almost to the point where I did not think I was going to be able to get it on at all. There is no way a child could get these on at all and it's not like this is an outfit that makes sense without socks. Outside of the difficult fit they are pretty nice. The exterior is a faux leather material and the insides are lined with a soft white fabric. The bottoms of the shoes actually have cleats, and the laces are the stretchy no tie type. Hair Ties: These are so simple, yet adorable! They are just the standard AG hair ties but with matching red ribbons attached. Now I want these in every color. Bases & Pitcher's Plate: These are surprisingly solid and heavier than I expected. They are made out of a sturdy rubber material with some flexibility. The fronts of the bases have a star logo cutout and the backs have a waffle/grid pattern. Fielder's Mask: I don't think I've ever seen one of these before. Are kids actually wearing these? I'm not sure, but I feel sort of indifferent about this piece. There's black foam padding in the areas that touch the dolls face, and the elastic that goes over the head works to hold it on and has some give for dolls with different hairstyles. I probably wont' use this much. Glove: This is cute! It's made from a faux leather material, and has real stitching holding the fingers of the glove together. Velcro is used to hold the glove on near the back of the wrist. There is also a small black printed American Girl logo on the wrist strap. The glove itself is very lightweight and a fairly thin material. Bat: The bat is made of a hollow plastic material and has American Girl printed in white down the length of the bat. The grip is made of a rubber material and it has a loop so your doll can hold onto the bat. If the bat was heavier it would be difficult for the doll to hold so I understand why it is light. It was pretty easy to get the doll to hold it. Ball: The ball is bright yellow and seems like it's made of a textured plastic. It doesn't have much give at all. American Girl is printed in black across one side of the ball. Batting Helmet: The helmet fits well and will accommodate different hairstyles. I didn't' realize the face guard piece comes off until I was rereading the description to do this review. It's a nice feature, particularly for picture taking! Overall this set is fantastic and comes with so many quality pieces! I will say that out of all the items included I'm surprised that they didn't include a regular baseball cap. It would also be nice to get multiple outfits and gloves to have a few dolls dress up as a team, but you wouldn't have the need for multiple bases, bats, etc.

From the AG website:Dive right in to get a strong start in the pool in an individual race or in a relay with this Team USA set. It includes: A red, white, and blue one-piece swimsuit with a star print at the hip A swim cap to tuck hair under A pair of swim goggles A pair of slide-on sandals to wear on the pool deck A terrycloth towel with USA embroidered on it SKU#: GMN85 $32Swimsuit: The fabric is fairly thick and has a slight shimmer. There is a star graphic near the hip. They did sew one of those clear plastic AG labels on, and I really wish they hadn't on this piece. Hopefully over the long term and pulling it on and off it wont' create a hole. The back has the non snag type velcro. Swim Cap: This is made of the same material as the swimsuit and gymnastics leotard. It has a Team USA logo on the front and American flags on both sides. The edges have encased elastic to help hold it on the dolls head. I didn't want to shove Gabby's hair in the cap, but I did put it on my CYO in the picture below and it was pretty easy to do. It may be more difficult with a doll that has super long hair like Kanani. Goggles: These are super cute and they fit pretty well. The red part is made out of a hard plastic. The clear eye cups is a little more flexible and the white strap is very soft and flexible. I'm happy that the strap is so flexible because it makes it easier to get on and off without pulling on their hair. The nose bridge is stiff too, unlike Nanea's goggles that have a flexible nose bridge. Towel: This is a long thin terrycloth towel with Team USA embroidered on it with navy blue thread. It is 11" x 3.5". Sandals: These are made of a rubbery material with a textured foot bed. I'm glad they are not plastic! The rubber feels pretty realistic for these types of shoes. They fit a little loosely and likely won't stay on very well unless you push the dolls foot through so her toes overhang the front. Overall I'm very happy with this set!

From the AG website:Be ready to flip for a routine on bars, beam, floor, or vault with this Team USA set. It includes: A red, white, and blue sequined-trim leotard with a foil-print star graphic A red scrunchie hair tie A pair of wrist guards for wearing on the uneven bars Warm-up slippers to wear on the floor and beam A pair of red shorts with a printed graphic SKU#: GMN84 $32Leotard: The leotard is made of a quality stretchy material material with a sheen to it. It has velcro up the back and it is the non snagging type. The leotard has a silver star graphic on the front/side and a Team USA graphic on the white sleeve. I'm not a huge fan of sequins, and think this would have been just as lovely without them. Shorts: The shorts are made out of the same red leotard material. They are stretchy, fit well, and have a Team USA graphic on one of the legs. The other leg has one of the clear hard plastic AG tags sewn onto it. Warm-Up Slippers: The material is very thin and almost see through. They are constructed similarly to the AG ballet slippers with a flexible thin sole. Wrist Guards: These are a little difficult to get on. I really had to push them down on her fingers in order to get the wrist straps to fit in the correct spot. Once I did that they were fine. They are made of white foam covered in a pleather like material on the outside. The area touching the dolls wrist is covered in a white grosgrain ribbon lining. The velcro is the snagging type so be careful putting them on. Scrunchie: This is made out of the same red leotard material and is nice and stretchy. There is a white AG tag, but it's not the super long one that they sometimes use. It was easy to tuck in once I got the scrunchie in her hair. Overall I think this set is great and comes with some high quality pieces!

This set was part of a 2017 release that included the Rockin' Roller Skating Outfit and other items. It retired in 2019.From the AG website: Maryellen loves to go skating! This set includes: A pair of white roller skates with bright pink pom-poms at the toes and working wheels A jump rope with red handles she can hold A metal baton for twirling White socks to match A blue carrying case with pink lining to hold her skates, plus stickers for decorating A pretend soda bottle for when she gets thirsty SKU#: FGF25. $48I really wanted the roller skates which is the main item in the set. The skates are super cute and fit well with laces long enough to tie. The socks are standard Maryellen socks. The jump rope and baton both have clear straps so they can be held and they seem to stay in the dolls hands pretty well. The jump rope length seems a tad short to me. The blue case is lined with pink felt and it comes with a sticker page that can be used to decorate. I haven't used any of the stickers at this point. I wish the sticker designs were just already built into the case. I do like how everything fits nicely in the case for storage. [/p]
I do feel that this set is overpriced at $48. I purchased it during a sale, and would not have paid full price.

I ordered my first CYO T-Shirt with the code that came with one of my CYO dolls. I hadn't really messed around with the CYO clothing section much, and didn't realized that the themes change and prior options disappear. I have one more CYO code to use so I'm making sure to save possible options this time around.
I'm not a big fan of how "boxy" the design section is, but I used Joss's design options and made it work and I'm pleased with how it came out.

This item was released in 2019 and retired in 2022.Pinball arcades were incredibly popular in the ’70s, and Julie loves to try to beat the high score! The Flip Side pinball machine works just like a real one, with flashing lights, a digital scorekeeper, a plunger to launch the metal ball, buttons to control the flipper arms on either side, bumpers, and realistic machine sounds. It’s made of real metal and wood.
$150 as of October 2019
I knew I had to have this as soon as I saw it! It's such a unique piece and I love that it lights up and can actually be played. There's even a part on the board that spins during game play. The piece itself is heavy and seems very well made with wood, metal and some plastic parts. It takes three C batteries to operate and has a switch on the bottom to turn it off, on at low volume or on at high volume.
I think the scale is pretty good and a doll looks natural standing next to it. The back is a solid aqua/turquoise color and the side panel art is the same on both sides. It also arrives fully assembled.

Released in 2017, retired in 2019.Help Kit get a hole in one with this swell 1930s-style mini-golf set! It includes: A working crank windmill to putt through A real metal putter and 2 golf balls Green felt pads to simulate grass A decorative folding box for easy storage
I was a little hesitant to buy this with the mixed reviews on the AG website, but I actually really like it. Yes, the box is cardboard, but it's nice and thick and has a great design on the front. The alternative probably would have been plastic and in that case I think this cardboard is nicer anyway. I can't believe the front of the box wasn't pictured on the AG website at all! I love the art on the front and it really adds to the charm of this set.
The windmill is plastic, and has a small crank in the back that you turn to make the blades spin. The felt pads are nice and thick and line up well to make it look like one stretch of green. The "start here" is printed on the inside of the box, so you slide the felt pads together so the start line is visible.
The putter is a solid and fairly heavy piece. A second putter would have been ideal. The set does come with 2 golf balls. The felt pads, balls and putter all fit inside the box for storage, so you just have the box and windmill to keep track of.
At $48 I do think the price is a little high. I purchased during the BOGO 50% off sale so averaging out the cost for the two $48 items I purchased means I paid around $36 for this which seems fair.

Tenney takes a break for some Nashville-style food from her mother’s food truck. Her outfit features:
A chambray shirt White crocheted shorts Tan loafer shoes
I like this outfit more than I thought I would. I really love the shoes. They are well made and have a unique look with the velvet ribbon laces. The embroidered lace detail on the shirt is a nice touch. The buttons do not function, and the shirt closes in the front with Velcro.

This hat is a very nicely made piece. It's a firmer material than I thought it would be, but that's a good thing since it should hold it's shape well. The tag is attached to the underside of the brim and you can see it partially in the first picture.
