On the old tables the scalloped edge is slightly raised above the level of the table; you might call it a "lip." On the new tables, there is still a scalloped edge, but it falls away down below the level of the table. It is still a "fancy" edge, but a marble would now roll off the edge. Does this make sense? You can see it if you carefully compare photos of the old table (I had saved from another member): to the photos of the version now for sale:
