AG Store Exclusive: Ruby Ball Gown Set (2014)

The Ruby Ball Gown was originally $72 but went on sale for $50 just days after its release. The set includes a gown, coat, shoes, purse, and barrette. In my opinion, the gown is rather poor quality. The golden top is very see through, made of a scratchy material, and very thin. the material reminds me a bit of the wired ribbon used for flower arrangements. Blechhh. The bottom has a nice layer with 3 tiers of tulle over it. The tulle is delicate. Overall, the look of the two parts together is odd to me. I'd like the skirt better without the tulle, I think, just as a long "silk" gown. The goat is a very thick felt-like material with faux buttons. The hem is very poorly constructed. It's sturdy, but would be much nicer if it had a true hem or fur along the bottom like at the sleeves instead of folded up and sewn together as it is. The shoes are very nice, with a lining inside them just like winter flats really are. The jewels are sewn on fairly snuggly. The barrette seems like it is real metal. It's very heavy but sits nicely in the doll's hair. I hope the jewels don't fall out. They seem like they're glued in well enough. The purse is a little disappointing. The clasp on it is plastic, not the metal I hoped for. I apologize for the cruddy cell phone pics. My camera's focus is not working normally at the moment. Dress grade: C. Coat grade: B-.
