Here are some photos of my beautiful JLY #39, Francesca Shiloh Schafer, AKA "Frankie".
The mandatory "I can't believe it's not Nicki" pictures:[
JLY #39 is a stunning doll. My pictures and AG's don't even show her full beauty. But, I did notice she is very photogenic. Her wig is beautiful, and full and thick. Her hair covers the wig cap and netting perfectly, with no bald spots at all. He layered hair is neatly and professionally cut, and not blunt, so it lays flat and looks natural. Her hair is a gingery brown with blond highlights. The same color as Nicki's, but also similar to Emily's. Her face is also pretty. I'm glad they gave her feathered eyebrows. Her eyes are bright and look great with her hair, and her facial coloring is just right. Mine has nice tight limbs.
I ordered her with pierced ears, and her earrings are nice and easy to use. They are simple and the ball earrings look similar to the earring I was given when I got my ears pierced at age six, so we know they are realisitic for a child with pierced ears. The earrings add to her in my opinion, but she is already beautiful. I can't recommend this doll enough. She gets A+ from me because I wouldn't change anything about her.[/div]

My daughter purchased this doll at AGP-NY two weeks after it was released. She had originally wanted another doll that the store did not yet have in stock, but quickly switched allegiance when she saw this doll in person. The funny thing is, we accidentally picked up a JLY-37 (red hair, green eyes) and for a moment thought we had the doll she wanted (give us a break - the doll's eyes were closed). The caramel coloring is a very pretty shade, but unless you have the doll beside one of the red haired dolls, I think it is easy to get them confused. This doll has the light blue eyes we are used to from AG, beginning with Kirsten on through the ages. I think she would have been striking with the dark blue eyes of Nellie, Kit, and JLY-27, and the dark blue would have distinguished her from another doll she resembles, JLY- 23. Granted that their hair color is different, plus 23 has freckles, but a casual observer could be forgiven for mistaking them. It would also have distinguished her from Nicki, whom she of course also resembles (and that is no manufacturing accident). So IMO, dark blue eyes on this doll would have been a great variation. Still, no one consulted me during the design process. And you don't care -- you want photos, right? Here you go: Note the pronounced layering of her hair. That's another thing that sets her apart from JLY-23. It also makes styling a little challenging. Here she is in braids and pigtails, done so she has a minimum of fly-away short hairs: Back of the head: Bonus shot with Mia. The hair coloring is definitely not red like Mia's but there's a resemblance. This is my daughter's doll. She loves her and rates her an A. Because she is so reminiscent of other dolls, and because I value unique and diverse looks, I have to give her an A-. She is definitely a lovely doll with a very good wig as described in operaghost's review, and has no structural problems. She's just not unique enough to make me want to add her to my personal collection.

Here are some comparisons #39 and Emily: #39 and Nicki: I think she looks more like Nicki but she doesn't look exactly like her since she has the newer wider classic face mold.

AG typically produces a JLY variant of retired LE dolls, and this doll is it for Nicki. The differences between the dolls have to do with the style and positioning of wig and of course, presence or absence of freckles. There is only one classic face mold; variations come out of different factories depending upon the mold that is used. Depending on where your doll's head was produced, some will have the 'wider' variation and some won't. If that is an important variable for someone, it's best to pick your doll out yourself in person, as AG isn't going to make the distinction between classic molds.
This is a doll that gets a lot of attention in my daughter's doll universe. So far she's held up well, although sometimes I feel like her hair is more fly-away due to its layering.

This is my daughter beloved 'Natalie', so named because she was a Christmas gift from Grandpa. I do small braids in the front that only come partway down (just as I do to my daughter). The layering isn't an issue then.
She's our first AG and she's lovely. (And much loved). My DD is eight and plays with her constantly (but respectfully) and she seems to be holding up very well. My daughter won't even do her hair - she brings me her hairbrush and a misting bottle because she wants her wig to stay nice.

This is my #39, whom I have named Alice. [I'm still in debate over a middle name.] She is my first doll, and I am glad I waited so long to get an American Girl. I bought her in October, and was soo pleased when I opened the box. Her hair is a beautiful color. My hair is strawberry-blond, hers has a bit less red. It seems that there is red in her hair, though, I suppose it doesn't have enough to qualify as strawberry-blond. Anyway, it's a gorgeous color, and her wig is good too. I can't really give a comparison to other dolls, though, since she is my first. [I'm planning on getting another doll eventually. I'm waiting to see if they introduce any this year.] Her eyes are a lovely blue, I think that they are the same color as Kirsten's. Her skin seems to be a little darker than "light" as she is described. I think she's actually pretty tan. Anyway, she's a really pretty doll, and I am so, so glad that I got her first.

I am so madly, crazy, in love with this girl. Despite having Nicki, I do not regret buying her. Her name is Natalie Noelle Spencer. Several things I noted about this girl. First, her wig seems to be hit or miss; this one had a couple lumps in it despite being very thick. So, I'm sending it back. Second, she is CHUBBY! Almost as thick as my PM girlies. And she has fairly broad shoulders and an 'ample' derriere, lol. One last shot of this beauty: Another Natalie-and-Nicki comparison shot Nicki is on the left, Natalie is on the right. Both girls are barefooted. Natalie is considerably shorter, and she is also stockier. Also, Natalie has smaller eye sockets and eyes that are slightly further apart than Nicki does. Both are really cute. Natalie has great hair that is not only shiny but it pretty much NEVER gets tangled.

This is my #39, McKinley Harper at camp with me =)
I love my McKinley! Her hair is so manageable and soft, and her lips are painted a perfect shade of pink. Hard to believe she's 11. She is very photogenic!

A/A+
I really love JLY/MyAg #39! She is really lovely and has very blue eyes (as you can tell from other members photos) The only complant I have is that her hair is so layered that its hard to do hairstyles other than a pony, side pony and pig-tails. Braiding is almost impossible, fly-away hairs go every where.

I took my daughter's #39 out of her box to show her daddy before I wrapped her up for Christmas. He was really impressed. He said that she looks so real and that her hair is exactly the color of our daughter's. It takes a lot for a doll to impress a man! I think she is a beautiful doll. Her coloring is so realistic. I love the feathered eyebrows. Her hair is very sleek and shiny. Her eyes are the most amazing shade of blue. Edited to add photos! Finally After a year of vigorous play with a four year old, our Rose is holding up really well!

My hubby bought #39 for our anniversary last year. I love her layered hair and she is close to a mini me except for I have strange color changing eyes! I don't see her and Emily looking that similar and I can't really compare her to Nicki since my Nicki has a short haircut. Here are some pics of Ally to inspire you.... She looks great casual or dressed up for a shopping spree. Good luck!

I have all three dolls, and while they look similar, they do have their share of differences. Emily's hair is much redder than #39's. I don't have any comparison photos at the moment, but I could try at take some, if you'd like. My #39 is the cousin of my Nicki twins. I personally feel that she looks different enough to purchase, but she could make a great twin or relative to Nicki. Here are a few photos:

I finally got her at the DC store Soft opening!! She is so lovely!! Definately a fav!! I love her layered hair.. Though it isnt all that noticable beyond how she has a shorter section in the front. I got two of kanani's new outfits and one of them is (obviously) for her.. I love her best in the solid blue rectangular glasses I got her the two tone too But I dont like them as well. here she is next to Bella the new 55

My DD and I both picked out this doll at the 2011 MCM sale. She picked one in the star hoodie outfit and I picked one in the real me outfit. I found it interesting when comparing the two at home that hers had lighter blue eyes, and super thick hair. Mine has very vivid bright blue eyes and thin hair. Her doll seems to have a bid less layering and a little more length as well. Overall she is very pretty - prettier than Nicki in my opinion. Even though I wish my doll had a better wig, I still think #39 deserves a A overall.

This is my Mackenzie. 1. Her hair is gorgeous! It only has front layers which is a relief. Her hair is sooooooooooo soft! 2. I got her in the Real me outfit. The top is really nice, the capris feel real and the shoes-well the shoes are pretty hard to get on. 3. Her skin tone is darker than on the website, but it is still gorgeous. 4. Her eyes are stunning! Overall I rate her a A+. Attachments:

I love my Kelsey sooo much! She has hair that is very easy to style and it matches quite a bit. Only downside is that it's nearly impossible to braid her hair:( Grade: A+

The beautiful photos on this thread made me ever so curious about this doll. I bought her at the MCM sale to donate to an auction, but I wanted to check her out as well. I had taken a lot of time to pick this doll, and she was perfect in terms of nice wig, good facial coloring, eyes that were level and matched, no neck gap.
Sorry to say, she just didn't do anything for me. The layered hair bothered me and if I handled her could fall in an unattractive shaggy way IMO and also I guess I didn't do a great job picking a doll with that right expression. Perfect as she is, she just didn't have the spark that any of the other dolls did. Which is good because I can easily donate her.
I find that the straight layered hair just makes her face look too severe. The 25 I got as well, sort of has that issue, but I managed to find one with a little extra sweetness in expression which makes a difference and I just don't like layered straight hair.
I thought she looked very nice in Julie's 2011 Spring/summer mini skirt with the peasant. Probably the best of all of my dolls. But she is not a keeper for me. There were quite a few of these dolls left on Sunday of the MCM sale, so there must have be a lot of overstock of her. She was one of the few light haired, light complexioned dolls left for the second day of the sale.

I love my #39. I got her for xmas 2013. Her hair is very easy to brush, and styling her hair is easy enough even though it is layered. Her hair doesn't fly-away as much as it looks messy/ruffled, because it comes out of the braid/bun/ponytail in little chunks and not just a few stray hairs. So she just looks like she has been playing outside, and the dolls are supposed to be tweens so that is what tweens do. And no matter how much her hair gets tangled, it is SUPER easy to brush it out. It's very smooth. And other than her hair, she is a beautiful doll! She is very realistic, and looks nice in almost everything you dress her in. ETA 10/09/2017 - I've finally taken pictures!

I love my #39! She was the second doll to join my collection, and before I got her I had wanted her for the longest time. I received her on Christmas Eve in 2011. Mine came in the Real Me meet outfit, and came with the charm necklace and innerstaru code. I named her Morgan after a relative who looked exactly like her at the time. She isn't the most unique doll of the bunch, but she is really cute and looks great in many different outfits. Her face is really cute, even though it's just the classic mold. She has the regular blue eyes and looks rather plain. My doll's eyes tend to look different directions sometimes but I think it's cute She has the feathered eyebrows, which I like. They match her hair color perfectly. Her hair is very unique. It's a dark ash caramel color, almost brown/auburn. It has faint lighter highlights that are only noticeable if you look very close. Otherwise you can't tell she has highlights. It is an extremely different shade than Mckenna's, which I like because I have them both. Many people think they look a lot alike, but in my opinion, they don't at all. Many #39s that I have seen have very thin and silky hair. Mine is more coarse and thick. I like it that way because it's way easier to style. I think the layers frame her face very well, but they do get in the way of many hairstyles. I recommend using a headband because the hairs slide out of styles very easily! Her hair is a good length for styling though. She also has a very deep side part which I like. Overall, I love my #39, but she's not my favorite doll in the world. I wouldn't recommend her to someone looking for a unique doll in their collection because she is very plain. She looks good in a lot of stuff though and I really like her in the cozy sweater outfit.

I was able to see a number of my friend's TM dolls so I thought I'd review them. This doll is very pretty and makes a good Nicki substitute. My friend also has Nicki and I prefer Nicki with her curls.
