I can't find a review for these so I'm adding one here.
This set came with a speller called a silabario, a ledger, a quill pen, a glass inkwell. It also included a cuaderno, a leather notebook.
This was an excellent set and so important to the story. The speller is a sheet of laminated paper with old Spanish letters, I think a sort of Spanish version of a hornbook. On the back is the English translation. The quill pen is rather disappointing. It's the same as Felicity's and made from plastic. The inkwell is green glass and very tiny. I'm not sure how much ink Josefina could fit in there. The ledger is a realistic looking smooth calf hide looking bound notebook. It ties closed and inside are sheets of paper written with numbers to show the sheep Josefina's Papá has sold and his other business. The best part of the set is the notebook. It is soft suede (faux?) bound with paper pages and inside are all the poems, proverbs, songs, and sayings that Tía Dolores had learned from Mamá. The Spanish is translated into English in the back.

I love this set! I give it an A, the bottle is beyond cute with the little cork stopper! my favorite is the suede journal with the writing inside and green ribbon page marker attached! everything in this set is so detailed and adorable. Only downside is that the quill is very small and very delicate, not good for play.

This set is incredibly adorable and very detailed. I love the little book with the illustrations! There are words, sketches and drawings. The little feather pen is very light and thin and I almost didn't see it. Wish this would have been a bit larger and also maybe had some browns or blacks in it. The glass bottle with cork is the best part! I am so glad to have this in my collection at last!

I just got this in today's mail, purchased from a board member. I just love it! The preceding reviews tell it all, but I just had to add my A+ rating. Just a suggestion - would the quill pen be easier to find (I know, it's hard to see!) if the tip had a touch of "ink"?

Every time I get this set out, I think I've lost the little quill pen. Luckily, it's tucked away inside the ledger, but seriously- couldn't they have made it a bit bigger and sturdier? I love the ledger's brown leather cover. I think it's really cool how the ink used is brown, just as Josefina's probably was. I also like how Josefina's father's name is in the book, just as he wrote it in her school story! The inkwell is just adorable and the sibilario is fun to look it. However, the real gem of the set is Tia Dolores's little notebook, full of sayings, poems, and songs she remembers learning with her sister, Josefina's Mamà. a Grade: A

Just won this from E-bay, the PC version. Wonderful, A+ all the way.
As all previous posters have stated, the quality is terrific, the Spanish sayings from Tia Dolores are all included and the translated into English at the back of the book (helps me remember my rust high school Spanish). Love that Josefina's signature and her Papa's are in the book also.
I do tend to think the inkwell is a little small, but that may be the perfectly correct size, I just don't know. My set doesn't have the quill pen and most second hand sets don't. It seems that this little item goes missing a lot. I'm just going to look for a real feather to replace it.
Highly recommended.
