Bitty Baby's Doll Seat (infant carrier) B+
The carrier has a canopy with fake fur trim. The trim struck me as odd at first (I've never seen a real infant carrier with anything but a slight ruffle on the canopy) and I do think it would look nicer without the pale purple fuzz, but my DDs like it. The canopy can be opened and closed to keep the sun out of Bitty's eyes.
The harness is easy to buckle and unbuckle. My daughter mastered it at age two-- a big plus in my book.
The handle can be pushed around behind the carrier to keep it sitting up right, at a slight recline, or placed behind the canopy to stay out of the way of play and allow the carrier to rock just a little. It takes a bit of a push to make the handle move. At first I didn't like that but a couple things changed my mind. First, I think the handle has to be a bit stiff to stay in the desired position. Second, I checked out some of the cheaper versions of this at various toy stores and boy were they poorly made! On the other versions, the handle could not go behind the carrier so the carrier could not be used to prop the baby up right. The ones that did have moveable handles required the handle to be unscrewed and reattached behind the carrier-- definitely not something the average three year old can do on their own. AG all the way on this one!
We've had our carrier for a year now. It has been taken in the car (as a Bitty car seat), dragged up and down stairs, and generally gotten a lot of use. It still looks brand new. I did have to retie the seat padding once but that's it.
I would give this an A if it weren't for the odd purple "fur" trim which is simply not to my personal taste. Overall it is a great piece and both my kids love it. Many, many stuffed animals and dolls have made use of it.
