Released 2006, retired 2007.
Mama makes Kirsten a special coat, using wool that she wove herself, and buys a hat that she trims to match. Kirsten wears the set to school on special days and keeps it neat by playing quiet games at recess. Help her play beanbag toss using the target and three beanbags, and cheer when she hits the bull’s-eye!
I get to be the first one to post a review? YAY!
I really love this coat, and I think it's the sweetest outfit to come out for the historicals in a while. See for yourself:
That blue is so perfect on Kirsten! The braid is fancy, too, I really like it.
The website says that the coat is made of wool, and wool makes me itch, so I was a little worried -- but I can pick up and hug on Kirsten fine for the most part, so if you're allergic, you'll probably be okay. (Maybe they washed it really well? Maybe I'm not allergic to that paticular sheep?)
The sleeves are 3/4 sleeves, and ... well, you can see from the picture that they sort of fold over each other on the cuff or something. It looks neat, but I have no idea how historically accurate it is.
I think the biggest drawback to this outfit is that it's hard to get on. The coat itself is okay, but it's a fight to get the bonnet on and tied while still dealing with Kirsten's braids. (They almost have to be tied in the loops, since they'll spill out of the bonnet funny if they're down.)
Speaking of the bonnet, aww. I really like the blue ribbon and the flower, which you can see better here:
(You might also be able to see how I had to finangle the bonnet and the braids. )
The outfit also comes with a beanbag toy set, which I'm not terribly interested in, but I'm 22 years old. I would have eaten this up if I were a kid.
Makes for cute pictures, anyway.
Besides the non-ease of getting it on and off (wow, I won English), it's a little expensive at $28. You could always buy something else cheap with it (say, a brush) and use a code, or wait for it to come around on eBay sans beanbag set. You know it will.
But, then again, buying it straight from AG is like voting with money, and maybe if this outfit sells well, we'll get lots of new Kirsten things!
