I bought this set because I was missings stocking for Samantha and wanted an upgrade from the plastic mary janes of fail. This set has fufilled this purpose. I have no aesthetic problems with any of the items. The velcro on the shoes can get caught on the stockings if you're not very careful, I wish they'd have kept the snaps. The stockings are a bit hard to get over my Samantha's butt, but this might be because she's PM. They get easier to use with time, I think they might be stretching out. Grade: B.
The white socks and shoes.

What I like about Nellie is she's actually pretty close to how she's pictured in the books. I think her meet dress looks much nicer on Samantha, possibly because Samantha is darker colored and therefore there is a better contrast. Edit: Samantha in Nellie's Meet dress The accessories The coin: it's a standard AG historical coin; I've lost it. I've lost them all. Purse: no quality concerns, doesn't really go with anything but the meet dress. Hat: Same goes for this for matching. I think it works for when Samantha is in the Piney Point attic and her and the twins are wearing all the fancy hats. Hankercheif: It has raised white embroidery, which I'm not sure you can see it from the catalogue pictures. It is rather intricate, this may be my favorite part of the set. I also like that is quite different from Samantha's. Necklace: A very pretty item and my Nellie wears it with everything, like Addy's cowrie shell necklace. Accessories Grade: a solid A

I have a Josefina from 1997 or 1998. She is gorgeous and her earings have stayed very gold. I love her skirt. The leather on the mocassins is very soft, and the pieces are mixmatched, so they have a very authentic feel. For example on one of the shoes the sole is a darker less soft leather but the other sole is the soft leather. However the laces in her mocassins are coming apart. They appear to be pieces of pleather stuck together, but they have separated and are very sticky. I don't know if this is a weird or not. Keeping in mind that my dolls had a rough time during my childhood, I'm not 100% they're the originals.

The current incarnation are definately not leather. How much of a problem this is, well I think it's a personal thing. I don't really mind, I don't think any of my doll's shoes are leather except for Josefina's meet mocassins. The pros: they're cute enough, and I use them on Addy (and perhaps someday Kirsten as well) so anything with multiple doll use in good in my books. The cons: they are hard to get on, especially on a doll wearing stockings. The laces are oddly long, and hard to get through the holes because only the very tips are finished with plastic (unlike the leather ones in the pictures). This is the part that dissapoints me. I have this outfit and like it. I love the colors. My only issue is with the pleats, which seem to have been messed up with mine. It is like the pleat eanel of fabric is too long for the bodice piece. Pressing might fix it, but I have to wait to get a new iron to try that. But honestly, pulling the skirt down doesn't help, and the bodice is fully extended, and I feel like it is a flaw on my particular dress. I've tried ironing it, but it only helps a little. I think the pleat panel is too long for the bodice. Aside from that, and the trim which I didn't really think about before now, its is on of my favorite dresses for Addy. Grade: A
