Lea is excited to see margays—small, spotted rainforest cats that live in trees—at the rainforest sanctuary. This cute little 7" (17.8 cm) plush margay cat has soft pink paws and an embroidered face.
American Girl will donate $1 to World Wildlife Fund up to $100,000 for every Margay Cat plush purchased through December 31, 2016.Lea Margay Cat 1 by Elizabeth, on Flickr All Lea's animals have a new style of packaging! The front of the box is open so you can touch the animal and they are held in by plastic tags. Lea Margay Cat 2 by Elizabeth, on Flickr Back of the box. Lea Margay Cat 3 by Elizabeth, on Flickr I'm still kinda meh on this little guy. I bought him because the animals were going FAST and I didn't really have time to think about it. As a life long collector of stuffed animals, I know quality and I know cheap. Lea's turtle and sloth are quality. The cat is cheap! I'm shocked and a little appalled that AG would make an animal like this. He's very limp. He has more beans than stuffing and isn't stuffed full. There's a LOT of empty space in his body. He can stand on his own, but it's an awkward pose. I do love the curl in his tail. And his face is cuter in person. But he is still Wal-Mart quality, NOT AG quality. I have always felt that AG animals were worth the money. Not this one!!! I'll keep him, but he's NOT worth $20. Lea’s adventures in Brazil have just begun! With this set, she’s ready for a world of new sights and experiences. The set includes:
A pretend camera that she can really hold, or hang around her neck by the removable woven strap A braided headband Four animal photos A 3-in-1 wish bracelet, featuring three ribbons with her wishes printed on them and a sea turtle charm Her passport A mini book about sea turtlesUGH! I can't believe I just spent $32 on this tiny box. $24 or $28 would have been a MUCH better price point. Watch, it'll go on sale in a few weeks and I'll be kicking myself. Lea Accessories 1 by Elizabeth, on Flickr I didn't realize that the headband was a braided HAIR headband until after I bought it. Considering what AG charges for their hair extension pieces, that sort of explains the price. Bonus! The hair matches Kanani's hair! It's not showing up in my pictures, but in real life the headband is a few shades more blond that Kanani's hair. Do they come in my size? They have elastic cord instead of laces. My only gripe is the outfit comes with hiking boots, but NO SOCKS!!! Really? : (The socks Jess is wearing are OG.) I knew I was buying this outfit as soon as it turned up on the gray market. It's just too cute for words. This outfit was released in 2015.Poodle skirts were very popular in the 1950s, and Maryellen is thrilled when her mother buys this one for her to wear to her first day of fourth grade! This outfit includes: A black quilted skirt featuring a pink poodle with a stitched leash A pink blouse with a cute Peter Pan collar and contrast polka dots on the sleeves A polka-dot kerchief that can be worn in her hair or around her neck White bobby socks Black-and-white saddle shoesI do NOT own the whole outfit yet. But I do have the prototype version of the blouse that I bought off Ebay. I wanted to post a picture of that blouse on Maryellen. Maryellen made her debut in August 2015. Imaginative Maryellen Larkin™ has hazel eyes that open and close, and her long strawberry-blond hair is worn in a high ponytail with sideswept bangs. She comes in an authentic 1950s outfit:
A striped dress with a sweetheart neckline, tailored bows, and a full skirt An aqua lacy-knit shrug monogrammed with her initial Black Mary Jane shoes White underwear An aqua ribbon bow on a ponytail holder for her hair
The 18" Maryellen doll has a huggable cloth body, and her movable head and limbs are made of smooth vinyl. She comes with The One and Only: A Maryellen Classic 1 book. I don't think I've ever reviewed a doll before, so let me know if I leave anything out. Maryellen meet 1 by Elizabeth, on Flickr Here she is fresh out of the box. Maryellen review 7 by Elizabeth, on Flickr Shoes Maryellen review 11 by Elizabeth, on Flickr Without the shrug. Maryellen review 12 by Elizabeth, on Flickr And the back. The one thing I really want to point out is her hairline. Maryellen really does have a "good side". Maryellen review 14 by Elizabeth, on Flickr Maryellen's "good side" (left) Maryellen review 13 by Elizabeth, on Flickr Maryellen's not so "good side" (right) It's just the way her hairline, part and bangs come together in the same spot. It leaves this triangle void that at the wrong angle looks like a bald spot. Look at the pictures side by side. Maryellen review 15 by Elizabeth, on Flickr See what I mean? It makes it harder to photograph her right side. Eye color comparison between Maryellen and Lanie. Maryellen Lanie compare 2 by Elizabeth, on Flickr Maryellen Lanie compare 4 by Elizabeth, on Flickr ETA.... I agree with molly&lydia about her wig. I tried to put Maryellen's hair in pigtails, but it came out all wonky. With her part being so far to the side it really throws everything off. Also, I curled Maryellen's hair and I wanted to add some pictures of that. This item was released in 2015. It was revised in 2019 to have plastic eyes rather than embroidered eyes.Scooter is Maryellen’s lovable dachshund. He’s short and stout with soft tan fur and sweet brown eyes—and he’s always looking for a comfortable place to rest.My mom picked out Scooter because "Every girl needs her dog." Scooter 2 by Elizabeth, on Flickr Not too much to say here. Scooter is you're basic AG plush pet. The biggest difference is that his eyes are embroidered and not plastic. Scooter 4 by Elizabeth, on Flickr Of course he comes with one honker of a tag. Scooter 3 by Elizabeth, on Flickr And his collar matches Maryellen's Meet dress. Scooter 5 by Elizabeth, on Flickr His ears are sewn to the side of his head, but there's enough space in between the two that you can add accessories like this. In Rebecca's day, swimsuits looked very different than they do now! Her 1914-style beach set includes: A purple tunic-style swimsuit with contrasting pink trim on the V-neck, a contrasting belt, and crisscross detailing with buttons on the sides Snug-fitting bloomers A pair of matching lace-up swimming boots Cuffed calf-high socks A slouchy pink knit hat with a brim to help shade her face and a cute bow accent on top A folding beach chair A postcard so Rebecca can share her seaside funWOW! I can't believe I'm the first to review this... and I'm not even using it for Rebecca. (rofl) This review is for the use of the Seashore Set with Kit. When this outfit came out there was a lot of talk about how it was inaccurate and inappropriate for Rebecca's era and culture. It was stated that this swimsuit would be more accurate for the 1920s and 30s. So I bought it for Kit! I wasn't collecting when Kit's swimsuit was out and I just flat out like purple better. Kit purple swimsuit 1 by Elizabeth, on Flickr Please excuse the fact that I don't have the whole set pictured. I really expected there to be other reviews. I swapped out the purple boots and socks for Emily's sandals. And the postcard is tucked away in Kit's desk. Important Note: the postcard was just loose in the box. Not even in a plastic sleeve or anything. Check your box carefully before throwing it out!The hat I haven't quite figured out yet. I'm not sure if I have Kit wearing it correctly or not. I'm not sure I'll use it a whole lot. I don't think it's quite right for Kit's era. The chair is the same kind of chair that AG sold for Kit to go with her swimsuit. The biggest difference is that Kit's chair is wood, while Rebecca's is very, VERY PLASTIC! But considering that you get a complete outfit and a small piece of furniture for $48, you can't really complain. Kit purple swimsuit 2 by Elizabeth, on Flickr Hopefully somebody else will review this for Rebecca. SailorMolly

Julie Zigzag pjs for girls 1 by Elizabeth, on Flickr I picked these up while I was in Chicago. I bought the Large (14/16) size. The PS that was helping me pointed out that the XL is an 18/20. That's new! This is my first piece of Beforever girl sized clothing. While I was in the store I noticed that all the girl sized clothes now include this button. Julie Zigzag pjs for girls 2 by Elizabeth, on Flickr It's a plastic button/label that is sew onto all the girl sized clothes. Honestly, I do not see this lasting long on the clothes. It would have been better as a patch. Getting knocked around in the washing machine, it's going to eventually fall off. Especially on items that get heavy use like the pajamas. Bow on the top. Julie Zigzag pjs for girls 3 by Elizabeth, on Flickr Tag in the top. Julie Zigzag pjs for girls 4 by Elizabeth, on Flickr Bow on the pants. Julie Zigzag pjs for girls 5 by Elizabeth, on Flickr Ok, this detail has me baffled. I didn't even notice it until I got home. The bow is on the front of the waist band... UNDER the shirt. You can't see it when you are wearing the pajamas. What's the point? AG could have saved a couple bucks in production costs. Decal on pants leg. This item was released in 2015 during Julie's BeForever revamp, and it retired in 2019. It is part of her second bedroom collection, along with the Bed & Bedding II and Daisy Vanity Set. (These replaced the first bedroom collection - which included her pink Pajamas, Bed & Bedding I, and Room Accessories - and were replaced in 2019 with her third bedroom collection - which included the yellow Pajamas & Robe, Groovy Bed & Bedding, and Bedside Table & Shag Rug.)Julie can light up the night in these bright pajamas! They include: A soft pink top with a sunburst graphic and a gathered waist with a ribbon bow, Pants that feature a zigzag pattern and yellow pompom fringe at the hem, Pink terry slippers.Out of all the new nightwear that was just released, Julie's are my FAVORITE! I love the colors and the design. And best of all, now Ivy can have pajamas too.
